The candidate must be able to comply with all applicable safety regulations, work under industrial repair conditions, work in confined spaces, and climb vertical/inclined ladders. Candidate must be able to lay out, from various metal shapes,in both shop and shipboard environments, and form sub-assemblies, parts, and other shapes as required by drawings and sketches. Installs and fits parts, assemblies, pipes, fittings and valves. Job Requirements/skill sets: Experienced (5+ years) Shipfitter or pipefitter with a complete understanding of production processes and specialty trades functions and tools. • The candidate must have experience using hand tools, fixturing, and shop machinery as required. • The candidate must have knowledge and experience in brazing and welding procedures. • The candidate must also be able to read, interpret, and follow blueprints or technical drawings and understand associated welding symbols. • Have completed an apprenticeship program or demonstrate by doing the experience outline above. • All applicants must provide a resume, be eligible for a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) credential. • All other duties as assigned Ability to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight will be determined by the specific job but no less than 30 pounds. Credit given for U.S. Navy or U.S. Coast Guard experience. Some travel is possible. Other Duties as Assigned. Education Requirements: High School Diploma required. Military technical school(s) desirable. Security Clearance/Naval Facility Access: U.S. citizenship required.
