Summary The Shaw Group is looking for an experienced Pipefitter to join our team in a role that primarily operates outdoors. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of pipe systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in varying weather conditions. Responsibilities • Installation and Maintenance: Construct, assemble, install, and maintain piping systems according to specifications and codes. • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of piping systems. • Material Preparation: Select appropriate materials, such as pipes, fittings, and fixtures, and ensure their proper preparation and assembly. • Welding and Cutting: Perform welding, brazing, soldering, and cutting tasks to connect pipes and related components. • Inspection and Testing: Conduct tests and inspections to ensure systems meet safety and quality standards. • Repair and Troubleshooting: Identify and repair malfunctions in pipelines, such as leaks or blockages, and troubleshoot issues as they arise. • Adherence to Safety Standards: Adhere strictly to safety guidelines and procedures, especially when working in outdoor environments and adverse weather conditions. Education • Proven experience as a Pipefitter, with a focus on outdoor work. • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings. • Knowledge of various piping materials, tools, and techniques. • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. • Welding and cutting skills. • Physical stamina to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. • Commitment to safety protocols and guidelines. • Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Pipefitter – 1st Class A pipefitter journeyman is responsible for removing, repairing, targeting, laying out, fabricating, installing, and testing marine piping systems such as Auxiliary Salt Water, Fire Main, Potable Water, Hydraulic, Compressed Air, Fuel Oil, Lube Oil, Engine Exhaust etc. in accordance with work item specifications. Must be able to comprehend instructions, drawings, and general correspondence. 2. Must have a comprehensive knowledge of ship construction. 3. Must be physically and medically capable to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) required for the job as prescribed under OSHA standards. PPE includes hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe shoes, goggles, respirator, safety harness, safety line, flotation gear, etc.) 4. Must be able to effectively confer job related information such as conditions found reports in writing that include recommended corrective action. 5. Must have a thorough knowledge of experience with P-73 joint fit-up. 6. Must be able to interpret drawings, specifications, and Navy/MSC/ABS standard items and manuals. 7. Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of equipment and work processes used in marine pipe fabrication, repair, and targeting. 8. Must be able to operate and care for equipment, portable power tools, and hand tools used to accomplish assigned work. 9. Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Must understand the US customary and metric measurement systems. 10. Must at have at least Three (3) years of pipefitting shipyard experience.

About the position Responsibilities • Cut, thread, and hammer pipe to specifications using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders and benders. • Attach pipes to walls, structures, and fixtures, such as radiators or tanks, using brackets, clamps, tools, or welding equipment. • Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading. • Plan pipe system layout, installation, or repair according to specifications. • Select pipe sizes and types and related materials, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to specifications. • Modify, clean, and maintain pipe systems, units, fittings, and related machines and equipment, following specifications and using hand and power tools. • Install automatic controls used to regulate pipe systems. • Turn valves to shut off steam, water, or other gases or liquids from pipe sections, using valve keys or wrenches. • Remove and replace worn components. • Inspect work sites for obstructions and to ensure that holes will not cause structural weakness. • Operate motorized pumps to remove water from flooded manholes, basements, or facility floors. • Dip nonferrous piping materials in a mixture of molten tin and lead to obtain a coating that prevents erosion or galvanic and electrolytic action. Requirements • 3-5 years of Journeyman level experience in pipefitting. • Certifications: NCCER, TWIC, and a valid driver's license.
