Core Job Responsibilities • Read and interpret blueprints • Apply mathematics to solve problems • Fabricating and installing gaskets • Performing cutting/threading operations using a machine • Using measuring tools and portable power tools • Make decisions based on measurable criteria • Testing pipe and tube installations • Secure pipes to structure with bracket, clamps, and hangers, using hand and power tools • Installing pipe systems and components • Interpreting detailed pipe sketches and blueprint • Installing valves and components • Assist in lifting, positioning and securing of material and work pieces during installation • Fabricating and install pipe fit • Identifying, fabricate and installing pipe hangers and supports • Rigging material and equipment • Fabricating pipe systems • Perform clean up duties • Perform other duties as required Essential Qualifications • Understand and carry out oral instructions • Ability to read and carry out simple and complicated written instructions • Ability to work at varying heights • Ability to read and interpret detail prints and documents • Assemble and disassemble objects • Ability to operate complex equipment and power tools • Ability to operate small equipment and power tools • Minimum 4 years industrial construction/maintenance industry experience • NCCER (Preferred) • TWIC Card (for most sites) • Valid Driver’s License Physical Requirements • Stand or walk for long periods of time • Will talk and hear to communicate. • Use arms and hands to signal, reach for, handle or manipulate objects, materials, and tools. • Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance. • Must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE. • Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs. • See well (naturally or with correction) • Eye-hand coordination • Good physical fitness • Good sense of balance • Work at heights Tool Requirements Employees are required to utilize their own tools. A detailed tool list will be provided during processing. Environment Working conditions encountered in this job include those found in a typical outdoor manufacturing setting which includes exposure to outside weather conditions, work at elevated heights, climbing of stairs and ladders, and physical manipulation of tools and mechanical equipment. This job demands the use of typical manufacturing personal protective equipment as well as advanced protective equipment as needed.

Pipefitter

Pipefitter Journeyman

SUMMARY Journeyman - Typically 3 years and above documented field experience in chosen craft discipline with ability to read and interpret instructions and document, plan and perform work activities independently. Lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs and maintains piping systems, pipe supports, fixtures, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water fixtures and equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling and production and processing systems. RESPONSIBILITIES • Selects type and size of pipe and related materials and equipment, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to job specifications. • Inspects worksite to determine presence of obstructions. • Plans sequence on installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other workers. • Cuts pipe using hacksaw, pipe cutter, hammer and chisel, cutting torch and pipe cutting machine. • Threads pipe using threading machine. • Bends pipe by hand or with pipe-bending tools and machine. • Mounts pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceiling to hold pipe. • Assembles and installs a variety of metal or nonmetal pipes and pipe fittings, using threaded caulked, soldering, brazen, fused, or cemented joints, and hand tools. • Secures pipes to structure with bracket, clamps, and hangers, using hand and power tools. • Installs and maintains refrigeration and air conditioning systems, including compressors, pumps, meter, pneumatic and hydraulic controls and piping, • Test piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges attached to pipes for indication of leaks. • Welds pipe supports to structural steel members. • May observe production machines in assigned area of manufacturing facility to detect machinery malfunctions. May operate machinery to verify repair. • Loads, transports and unloads material, tools, equipment and supplies. • May assist in lifting, positioning and securing of material and work pieces during installation. • Performs minor maintenance of cleaning activities of tools and equipment. • Respiratory protection is common and may be required. • Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules. Perform other duties as required.
