Pipefitter/Fabricator Job Summary: This position performs important tasks involved in the production of the company's products. The job includes measuring, fabricating, cutting, welding, and grooving piping for our pre-packaged pumping stations, as well as learning other manufacturing jobs. The position is self-directed and collaborative. The position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure our customers get the best products possible. The perfect candidate will be able to perform these essential duties: • Fabricate parts by cutting, welding, and grooving per prints. • Measure, fabricate, cut, weld, groove, and assemble pumping stations per directions, schematics, prints, and wiring diagrams. • Verify your work and troubleshoot problems as they arise. • Report non-conformances to area lead or supervisors as they arise. • Work independently or with a team. • Utilize safe, quality practices and systems. • Maintain an organized, clean work area. • Record time for the jobs. • Crosstrain and learn other functions in manufacturing. Physical Demands: • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. • The employee is required to handle power tools and to manipulate tools, wires, and components. • The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. • The position involves lifting more than 25+ pounds for long periods throughout the day. • * Disclaimers: PPS is a non-smoking facility. Applicant must be local (within 60 miles) to Lugoff, SC. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Select type and size of pipe and related materials according to job plans and specifications. • Inspect work sites to determine presence of obstructions. • Plan sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers. • Cut pipe, using hacksaw, pipe cutters, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and pipe cutting machine. • Thread pipe, using threading machine. • Bend pipe by hand or with pipe-bending machine. • Assemble and install variety of metal and non-metal pipe and pipe fittings, including those made of brass, copper, lead, glass, and plastic. • Join piping by means of threaded, caulked, wiped, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints. • Secure pipes to structure with clamps, brackets, and hangers, using hand tools. • Test piping system for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges attached to pipes for indication of leaks. • May weld hanging fixtures to structural steel members. • Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy. • Make decisions based on measurable criteria. • Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings. • Lift and carry objects of varying weights • Detect, recognize and respond to dangerous conditions or situations. Qualifications & Skills: • Skilled in both written and verbal communication. • Complete all Safety and general job training as required by SIC. • Observe SIC and Customer safety and quality processes and procedures at all times. Physical Requirements/Job Site Requirements: • Must be able to effectively use all required PPE equipment and lift up to fifty pounds. • Conditions include working in office, shop, busy traffic areas, warehouses, and undeveloped properties, with frequent exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oil, vibrations, and adverse weather conditions. • Must be able to safely access all areas of property, buildings, structures, wharves, rooftops and other elevated positions, as well as, confined spaces. • Strenuous physical demands are required to safely perform the essential functions associated with this position. • Must be able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools. • Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, bending consistently, working in confined spaces with limited access, on ladders, in personnel lifts, in workboats, and working in awkward body positions.
