Masonry Journeyman

Mason Journeyman - Skilled We are currently seeking a Journeyman to join our Award-winning growing team. This is a full-time labor-intensive role with an opportunity to progress within the company. Duties and Responsibilities • Perform masonry to company's standard of quality, under the direction of the Foreman, according to the plans and specifications. Bring discrepancies and special conditions to the attention of the Project Manager. • Maintain a safe work environment, reinforcing a 'safety first' attitude with the team. Care for tools, equipment, materials, and job site. • Constructs, alters, repairs, and installs structures made of block, stone, brick, and concrete utilizing hand tools and power tools of the masonry trade. • Selects types of cement, plaster mortar, blocks, stone, or brick to be used. Sets stone, brick and block applying knowledge of stress and strain and ratio of mixes and bonds. • Measures and cuts stone, brick, and block according to specifications. • Reads and interprets specifications, sketches and/or blueprints as they pertain to masonry work. • Loads and unloads materials; erects and uses scaffolding. • Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and explain and take any corrective action needed. • Performs other duties as required. Requirements • * Able to meet all physical requirements. • Must have all required tools. • Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft). • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions. • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. • Must possess strong working knowledge skills and abilities for position. • Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision. • Proficient in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools and layout tools as well as measurement tools • May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area. (Understanding of heritage masonry skills and techniques is an asset). • Clean Driver's License • Background check required.
