Municipal Construction Manager

Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee municipal infrastructure and public works projects. This role is responsible for managing the planning, coordination, and execution of construction activities, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience with municipal contracts, strong leadership skills, and the ability to work closely with stakeholders, contractors, and engineering teams. Key Responsibilities • Manage day-to-day construction operations for municipal and public works projects. • Coordinate with contractors, engineers, inspectors, and municipal staff to ensure successful project delivery. • Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and contract documents. • Monitor project schedules, budgets, and resources, identifying potential risks and implementing corrective measures. • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as municipal codes and quality standards. • Conduct site visits and progress meetings; prepare and present detailed project reports to stakeholders. • Oversee construction documentation, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and progress reports. • Promote and enforce jobsite safety standards and quality control practices. • Support bid evaluations and contractor selection processes when needed. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). • 5+ years of experience managing construction projects, preferably in municipal or public works. • Strong knowledge of municipal contracts, specifications, and construction methods. • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills. • Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Office Suite. • Familiarity with infrastructure projects such as roads, utilities, water/wastewater facilities, or public buildings. • NICET certification or PMP is a plus. Responsibilities: • Process all projects related Pay Estimates, Submittals, Shop Drawings, RFI’s, and Change Orders. • Manage multiple transportation related construction projects at once. • Review, track, and markup Construction Schedules. • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports. • Chair meetings. • Interface with clients and contractors.
