About the position Responsibilities • Provide Tier-2 troubleshooting support, working with the user support team and operations staff. • Manage the day-to-day technical operations of core, distribution, and access layer switching equipment. • Manage the day-to-day technical operations of firewall administration. • Maintain documentation of network transport, distribution, access layer, and firewall. • Develop and maintain positive relationships with peers and subcontractors. • Communicate and present technical information clearly to varying audiences. • Assist in administering technical security compliance with the site security plan. • Perform work safely and in compliance with environmental obligations. • Arrange scheduled network upgrades. • Report network status to key stakeholders. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field with 8+ years' work experience. • Experience with LAN, WAN, and WLAN design and implementation. • Experience with network capacity planning and network security principles. • Minimum 8 years' experience designing, implementing, managing, and supporting enterprise-level IP networks. • Excellent hardware troubleshooting experience. • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. • Knowledge of core routing and switching design principles and best practices. • Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards. • Ability to upgrade network equipment to the latest firmware releases. • Strong interpersonal, written, documentation, and oral communication skills. • Ability to conduct research into networking issues and products as required. • Highly self-motivated and directed.
