Traveling Wind Generator Technician

MUST RELOCATE TO MILWAUKEE, WI Responsibilities, Functions, and Tasks • Be responsible for the operations, maintenance, QA/QC Inspections, retrofits, commissioning and/or repair of wind turbine generators. • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems including repair or replacement of parts to correct failures. Analyze problems and perform needed repairs or replacement of parts to correct failures. Perform testing. • Execute required tasks by Field Service Coordinator and in alignment with site manager with minimal supervision. • Use schematics, blueprints and work instructions to execute the assigned services. • Take direction from Site Manager and in coordination with direct manager. Inform management of any issues preventing the safe execution of assigned services. • Complete required reporting of the assigned services. • For the execution of services, use the equipment, resources and instructions provided by the company. • Adhere to Company policies, environmental health and safety policies and good housekeeping practices. Identify gaps in safety standards as well as safety risks in the work environment and provide recommendations to management. • Ensure tasks are performed according to organizational requirements for quality management, environmental, health and safety standards, policies and procedures. • Work as a Repair technician following “JPR2.032.C Repair Technician” in Milwaukee, WI, for periods of time that do not require travelling. • Report work hours in a timely manner when traveling per company guidelines. • Complete other tasks as assigned. Work Experience Requirements • Relevant experience required, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment. 1+ year experience as Wind Technician preferred. Experience performing maintenance tasks preferred. • Must have basic electrical and mechanical knowledge and be able to troubleshoot issues and find the root cause of the problem. • Must have the ability to read, analyze and interpret Engineering Change Orders, repair manuals, blueprints and schematics • Must have knowledge of electrical principles and concepts. • Ability to use various hand and power tools, measuring devices, testing devices and equipment. • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic problems preferred. • Electrical testing experience preferred. • Ability to work independently and take initiative to accomplish tasks. • Must be able to travel for extended periods of time, work extended hours as necessary and be available to travel on short notice. • Must be able to work in adverse and extreme weather conditions and in confined spaces. • Must have a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record. • Must be Service-oriented with good communication and organizational skills and be detail oriented. • Ability to read and speak Spanish preferred. • The candidate needs to have the ability to climb wind turbine towers up to 300 feet in height, up to 3 times a day and the ability and willingness to handle repetitive weight (50+ lbs) Academic Requirements • Associate Degree in Engineering or other relevant technical degree required. Ideal candidate will possess a Wind Turbine Technician degree or other similar degree. 1+ years relevant work experience required, in lieu of degree required. • OSHA-10, NFPA 70E, First Aid/CPR, Climbing and Tower Rescue certificates.
