Wind Turbine Blade Technician (USA)

Location: 100% travel throughout the USA Job Type: Regular Full-time or Contract positions available Job Responsibilities: • Travel 100% to wind farms throughout North America on an 8/1 rotation. • Perform composite blade repair uptower via platforms, rope access and/or occasionally on the ground • Epoxy and Polyester resin wet layup • Vacuum infusion • Balsa and foam sandwich materials • Structural repair • Completing detailed Daily Progress Reporting Documents and QAQC reports • Completing onsite stock checks • Assisting site lead and project coordinator as applicable We are ideally looking for technicians with the following skill set and training: • 2+ years of composite experience • Knowledge of epoxy and polyester resins, wet lay-up, and vacuum bag techniques. • Understanding of Epoxy and Polyester resins, wet lay-up and vacuum bag techniques • Understanding how to handle balsa and foam core materials • Knowledge of fiberglass reinforcement and structural repair methods. • Ability to safely and properly use powered hand tools. • Good finger dexterity, including precise use of hand and power tools • Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and processes. • IT literate, including email, internet, and iPad usage. • Ability to work well in a team, take guidance • Experience safely setting up and using 360-degree and 2M basket platforms. • Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including by air and ground transportation, often on short notice, and to spend extended periods away from home at project sites. • Ability to drive or travel up to 11 hours per day when required. • Flexibility to adapt to changes in scope and work assignments. • Able to work safely in outdoor environments under both extreme heat and cold conditions. • Physically capable of meeting strenuous job requirements, including climbing ladders 2+ times per day up to 300 feet (90 meters), bending, crawling, stooping, and lifting up to 75 pounds. • Ability to wear a respirator and work safely with protective equipment • Good vision (with corrective lenses if necessary) to perform detailed inspections, read instructions, and safely operate equipment. • Valid driver’s license, good MVR report, and must be 21 years of age or older to drive a company vehicle. • Valid passport is a plus. • Eligible to work in the U.S. or Canada (citizenship or legal work authorization required). • Must successfully pass a criminal background check and maintain a drug-free status. Qualifications: • If entry-level, provide proof of Wind Technician Certification from an accredited Wind Academy or equivalent Trade School. • Able to travel for in-state site work, training and other company functions up to 50%. • Possess excellent electrical and mechanical skills. • Knowledge of turbine-related machinery and tools, including their design, uses, repair and maintenance. • Knowledge of circuit boards, electronic equipment, computer hardware and software, including applications and programming. • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for protection of people, property, and institutions. • Willing to learn and progress into a stronger role, such as troubleshooting, commissioning or serving as lead technician on site. • Any experience with turbine technology and/or being up-tower on platforms welcomed, including Solar/Off-shore experience. • Ability to read and interpret schematics, diagrams, work instructions, manuals. • Fluent English verbal and written communications skills are required. • Must have current valid driver's license and fit-to-drive record with no more than two moving violations in the past three years, including passing a Motor Vehicle Record. • Ability to pass a criminal background check (project/client dependent and you will be notified if needed). Physical Requirements: • Capable of lifting at least 40-100 lbs. • Capable of bending, twisting, and lifting items overhead. • Capable of climbing a wind tower up to 400 ft in height up to three times daily.
