Qualifications: • If entry-level, provide proof of Wind Technician Certification from an accredited Wind Academy or equivalent Trade School. • Able to travel for in-state site work, training and other company functions up to 50%. • Possess excellent electrical and mechanical skills. • Knowledge of turbine-related machinery and tools, including their design, uses, repair and maintenance. • Knowledge of circuit boards, electronic equipment, computer hardware and software, including applications and programming. • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for protection of people, property, and institutions. • Willing to learn and progress into a stronger role, such as troubleshooting, commissioning or serving as lead technician on site. • Any experience with turbine technology and/or being up-tower on platforms welcomed, including Solar/Off-shore experience. • Ability to read and interpret schematics, diagrams, work instructions, manuals. • Fluent English verbal and written communications skills are required. • Must have current valid driver’s license and fit-to-drive record with no more than two moving violations in the past three years, including passing a Motor Vehicle Record. • Ability to pass a criminal background check (project/client dependent and you will be notified if needed). Physical Requirements: • Capable of lifting at least 40-100 lbs. • Capable of bending, twisting, and lifting items overhead. • Capable of climbing a wind tower up to 400 ft in height up to three times daily. Position Overview As a Wind Technician you will be responsible for operating and maintaining the Plymouth Wind Energy Center. Responsibilities • Perform routine mechanical and electrical maintenance on GE wind turbine and associated equipment • Climb wind turbine towers daily, wearing all required safety equipment, to inspect, maintain, or repair equipment. • Understand electrical and mechanical functions of all components of a wind turbine generator and associated equipment • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults; repair and/or replace components • Maintain company tooling, facilities and equipment and a clean safe work environment • Work a 40 hour work week and be subject to scheduled and unscheduled overtime. The work schedule will vary during the peak maintenance periods Required Skills • High school diploma or equivalent • One (1) year technical experience (mechanical, electrical, etc.) and/or technical education. • Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather, climb ladders without assistance, and work at heights greater than 80 meters (250 feet). • Ability to move and manipulate up to 45 kg (100 pounds). • Weight must not exceed 120 kg (265 lbs.) excluding equipment/gear worn when performing job related tasks. • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record. • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.
