Wind Technician On-Site

Job Overview EDF Renewables North America is a leading independent power producer and service provider with over 35 years of experience. This role assists experienced technicians in performing tasks such as preventive maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting. The position works under the guidance of a site supervisor and is based in Cabery, Illinois. Key Responsibilities • Ensure safe work practices at all times and seek guidance when unsure or unfamiliar with a task. • Care for company property and equipment in an efficient and safe manner. • Change gearbox oil in designated areas or wind fields. • Grease/torque wind turbines. • Perform routine checks on turbines, including clearing error codes and repairing problems. • Replace mechanical components as needed. • Service blade and hub components according to turbine type. • Complete daily work orders, time cards, and other required paperwork. • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor or designee. Working Conditions • Wind Technicians spend most of their time in the field, excluding safety meetings, training, and scheduled exercises. They work in teams and use company vehicles to carry necessary tools and parts. • Service Technicians often work in extreme weather conditions. Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent, or up to one year of related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Successfully complete applicable safety and technical training program for entry-level wind technicians. • Demonstrate basic computer knowledge. • Follow both verbal and written instructions. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Physical Demands • The employee regularly stands, climbs, uses hands to fingers, handles, or feels, and reaches with hands and arms. • The employee frequently talks or hears. • The employee regularly lifts and/or moves up to 35 pounds, frequently lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds. Special Conditions of Employment • Maximum employee weight must not exceed 285 lbs due to weight restrictions associated with life-saving fall-arrest equipment. Work Environment • Extreme weather conditions, including cold, rain, wind, etc. • Moving mechanical parts and vibration. • Confined spaces. • Moderate noise level.
