The Field Service Technician Is required to go out on field service calls to inspect, repair, install and start-up gear units and other transmission parts on customer sites upon the request of service manager. Technician determines cause of failure and possible corrective actions. In house will perform disassembly and assembly of power transmissions such as Redurex Helical gear units, Flender standard gear units to include: bevel, planetary, worm gear, mixer drive, mill drive, single and double screw extruder units, hoist and swing gear units, variator drives, marine drives, couplings and their subassemblies. Must be able to read and work from: blueprints, parts lists and assembly protocols. Uses parts washers, freezers, ovens, cranes, fork trucks, presses, torches, hand and power tools. Will be responsible for disassembling units, inspecting disassembled parts, write up and reporting failed parts, and advise on replacement parts. Will shim for bearing settings and final assemble gear units. At times may spin test units Can work alone, with other assemblers, and as required may oversee quality and accuracy of work performed by fellow team members and clean up. Is responsible for correctness of unit during disassembly and reassembly. May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
