Senior Engineer, Development Engineering - Wind

What The Role Is Reporting to the Senior Manager, Development Engineering – Wind, the Senior Engineer, Development Engineering - Wind will be responsible for collaborating with the project team in developing, planning, scheduling, budgeting, Engineering Procurement & Construction (EPC) negotiations, contracting, technical review, BOP design, and economic optimization of utility-scale wind projects. A successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in managing and contracting large-scale wind projects. The position requires an in-depth understanding of the design and construction of new or repowered wind farms, including civil, foundations, turbine installation, and electrical MV collector and HV scopes. This position includes overseeing and managing 2-3 project opportunities. This role will include collaborating with cross-functional project development teams in planning, scheduling, budgeting, and technical review of utility-scale wind projects. The candidate will have a working knowledge of wind EPC agreements and will require experience in working with engineering consultants in the design and optimization of utility-scale wind projects. This individual will be responsible for ensuring that the EPC design and schedule will align with the overall project schedule, including coordination with the turbine supplier. The position will offer the ability to interact with a wide variety of people within the organization and will require adaptability, initiative, and strong communication skills. The Senior Engineer (Wind) will contribute to Clearway’s forward-looking technology and cost roadmaps, integrating analysis of market and regulatory factors, and contributing to the achievement of Clearway’s US domestic content and ESG goals. This position is a hybrid role located in one of our office locations in San Francisco, CA, Carlsbad, CA, Scottsdale, AZ, Denver, CO, or Houston, TX. What You'll Be Doing • Collaborating with the Project development team on the EPC RFP process, assuring there’s a comprehensive set of drawings, SOW, and other technical documents that will provide meaningful results. • Control project timeline to align and coordinate EPC and Turbine supplier schedules. • Monitor the timely deliverables and review of design documents from engineering consultants. • Develop strategic relationships with the major EPC’s and engineering consultants. • Work collaboratively with EPC contractors, developers, and wind resource analysts in identifying project constraints and opportunities for optimizing the levelized cost of energy. • Support Clearway’s domestic content strategy for PTC and ITC-qualified projects. • Collaborate on the development and submission of PPA proposals. • Handles the diverse design and complex constructability of new and repower wind projects. • Collaborate on reports for leadership that will demonstrate the project’s readiness for financing and construction. • Traveling to projects under development and in construction. (25%) What You'll Bring • Engineering or Construction Management Degree. • 6+ years of engineering experience. • 5+ years of experience in the Wind Industry. • 2+ years of Project Management or Project Engineer experience designing & building utility-scale wind projects. • An in-depth knowledge of the construction and cost basis of utility-scale wind projects. • Experience with multidisciplinary design, EPC negotiations • Experience managing engineering consultants for industry-scale wind projects. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. What Would Be Nice • Experience interfacing with Turbine suppliers during design and contract execution is preferred. Job Description Summary The Wind Hub Manager reports to the Service Director and is a strategic role accountable for building long term relationships with customers, driving optimized operations, fiscal management, and hub safety.
