Wind Technician I

AES Corporation is hiring a Wind Technician I in Arlington, VA, responsible for maintaining and repairing wind turbine systems. Key duties include routine maintenance, troubleshooting, assisting with component installation, and ensuring safety standards. Candidates should have a high school diploma, technical knowledge, and experience with specific turbine models. A valid Texas driver's license is required. This is a full-time position with no degree mentioned. This is a skilled position in the maintenance and repair of wind turbine mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems. Primary Functions: Crucial duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Performs routine preventive maintenance on wind turbine mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems (under direction, if needed). • Performs wind turbine mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems troubleshooting and repairs. • Recognizes occurrences of wind turbine error codes and appropriately reports the problem. • Assists with removal and installation of wind turbine mechanical, electrical and hydraulic components. • Assists with heavy equipment (crane) rigging and directing. • Interface closely with Buffalo Gap Team Leaders. • Performs wind turbine controller maintenance and repair. • Completes required reports and other paperwork, some of which require computer entry. • Assists with high-voltage system maintenance and repair. • Maintains adherence to Company policies, safety standards and good housekeeping practices. • Maintains accurate care of Company tools and vehicles. • Demonstrates the ability to learn sophisticated troubleshooting and repair of the wind turbines. Educational Qualifications: • High School diploma required. • Knowledge in a Technical Trade, Maintenance, Electrical, Instrumentation and/or Operations is strongly preferred. • Certificate and/or Associates of Applied Science in Wind Turbine Technology are a huge plus. Fundamental Qualifications: • Shown experience with GE 1.5, Vestas V-80 and/or Siemens 2.3 turbines. • Have experience working with GE, Vestas and/or Siemens SCADA systems. • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals. • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. • Ability to understand and follow customary instructions in order to perform the essential functions of the position in a satisfactory manner. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics. • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. • Ability to work with minimal supervision, given proper instructions. Technical Qualifications: • To perform this job successfully, an individual should perform each crucial duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. • Work in mechanically and electrically oriented situations. • Previous equivalent related experience and/or as the Company may settle to be an appropriate skill level. • Successful completion of all training, education courses and/or skill level testing required by the Company for entry into this position. • Knowledge of basic electrical testing equipment, commonly used bolts and torque values.
