Renewable Energy Construction Specialist

The Big Picture We are seeking a Construction Project Manager/Estimator. This position will be responsible for leading the operational and financial aspects of construction projects to be completed on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with our safety and quality procedures and policies. • Responsible for gathering, calculating, and compiling data for use in estimates and preparing routine estimates • Attend project meetings, pre-bid meetings, and perform site investigations as assigned. • Conduct plan and estimate reviews for projects. • Complete pre-construction survey and other preliminary documents. • Solicit subcontractor and/or supplier quotations or scheduling input as required for the project and award contracts to selected subcontractors. • Coordinate with other members of the team for completion of the proposal. • Create, read, edit, and understand contracts, subcontracts, service agreements, purchase agreements, and correlate quotes to the main scope and contract. • Review all bids for their entirety and compliance with contract. • Establish labor needs and confer with Human Resources. • Develop and complete project schedule. • Build Relationships and Champion Company Culture • Daily, set exemplary standards of ethics and stewardship of company resources, function as a team player, and help maintain trust and communication. • Strives to exhibit and apply company values to all interactions and build/maintain relationships with company stakeholders (employees, clients, subcontractors, community members, regulatory bodies, etc.). • Shares knowledge of lessons learned, company values, and employees' skills and abilities. • Ensures direct reports and the site team utilize professionalism while interfacing with vendors, subcontractors, landowners, and other community members. Required Skills and Qualifications • 15+ years construction experience Able to work effectively with various internal and external constituencies from varied backgrounds. Able to adapt communication style to the speaker and possess active listening skills. Must demonstrate emotional intelligence; being aware of self and others. Strong interpersonal, team building, customer service, communication, problem solving, planning, and leadership skills. Detail orientated with the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks. Current driver's license. Must be able to speak and understand English. Requires ability to read plans. The big picture The Renewable Energy Site Manager, while reporting to the Project Manager, will be responsible for providing leadership and on-site management of the operational and financial aspects of the project. The Site Manager is also responsible for ensuring compliance with Company safety and quality procedures and policies, budget and production goals. The Site Manager will be the primary on-site liaison with client and client's subcontractors ensuring high level of customer service. As the leader of the on-site team, this position also acts as a cultural manager by ensuring that the company's fundamental values are followed and maintained. Direct, plan and manage projects ensuring they are safe, meet contract requirements, and financially successful. • Ensure the project is in compliance with federal and state safety regulations, the site-specific safety plan and client requirements through leadership of Superintendents, administrators, on-site Safety Coordinators, and project team. • Review and fully understand all contract documents. • Review construction documents (plans, specs, etc.) for completeness and constructability. • Work with Project Manager and Superintendents to plan and prep for mobilization/demobilization from project site. • Provide direction to Superintendents ensuring each crew/scope stays on schedule and within budget, while adhering to contract specifications and Company policies. • Facilitate scheduling of equipment, materials, tools and crews to efficiently utilize resources. • Responsible for controlling job costs and informing project manager of potential over-runs. • Maintain productive and efficient crews, ensure best practices are communicated and enforced, and assigned scopes are technically and quality compliant striving towards superior project execution. • Ensure proper implementation and application of the project QA/QC. Coordinate and Communicate with Project Manager, project team, client on-site representatives and other project personnel • Lead internal project meetings to obtain updates on areas of responsibility. • Communicate with Project Manager with updates on status of project, any potential problems areas. • Responsible for documenting work activities as required through internal online system. • Coordinate and communicate with Superintendents, Trade Forepersons, etc. to plan out work activities, and resource needs. • Assist Project Manager in communicating with Owner regarding project status. • Work with Project Manager at beginning of project to identify personnel, tools, equipment and supplies needed for project. Provide leadership to direct reports and project crews • Leads and manages assigned project through employees and/or hired organizations. • Ensures the project follows company policies and state and federal employment regulations. • Develop a high performance, customer-oriented work team, through hiring, motivating, coaching, appraising, and rewarding, and addressing under performers, complaints or personnel conflicts. • Conduct employee performance conversations, review and feedback as needed and on a semi-annual basis to provide mentoring, coaching and rewards for continued employee development.
