Fitter/Welder is needed at a steel company in Utica, NY. Work hours are Monday-Friday 6:30am-3:00pm or 6:30am–5:00pm. Additional OT is offered on Saturday 6:30am-12:00pm on a regular basis • Layout and fit-up of structural steel ( MUST HAVE ) • Tack welding and MIG welding (Flux core) ( MUST HAVE ) • Reading and interpreting shop drawings and weld symbols ( MUST HAVE ) • Torch cutting ( MUST HAVE ) • Cleans up material by grinding or chipping. • Operating Overhead Crane • Other work, which may be assigned by shop foreman • Steel toed boots are required • Maintain clean and organized work area • Proficient at working on multiple projects * Capable of working independently • General labor • Operating a Forklift • Strong work ethic • Ability to read a tape measure ( MUST HAVE ) • Willing to learn Welders and fabricators are responsible for the fit up and welding of structural steel I beams and columns and are required to follow shop procedures and guidelines to fabricate in accordance with D1.1 structural building code. Welders and fabricators may also be required to preform other task in the shop given by the shop foreman.
