Port Orchard, WA Full Time/Non-Exempt Salary Range: Hourly, $28 – $31 Job Description: QED Systems, an established marine engineering, planning, and ship modernization firm, is seeking qualified individuals experienced in marine mechanical applications. The candidate must be able to comply with all applicable safety regulations, work under industrial repair conditions, work in confined spaces, and climb vertical/inclined ladders. Candidate must be able to join metal components together through the process of welding or brazing in both shop and shipboard environments, lay out work to be accomplished, select materials required to accomplish removals / installations / repairs / alterations, and cut / burn / grind surfaces (as directed). Job Requirements/skill sets: Experienced (5+ years) Marine Welder with a complete understanding of production processes and specialty trades functions and tools. • The candidate must have experience and successfully demonstrate the skills and ability to certify to QED Weld Procedures for at least two metals (OSS, HY, SS, AL, or CuNi). • The candidate must have experience in at least two welding processes (SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, or GTAW). • The candidate must also be able to read, interpret, and follow blueprints or technical drawings and understand associated welding symbols. • The candidate must have prior NAVSEA, ABS, or AWS certification as a welder. • All applicants must provide a resume, be eligible for a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) credential. The Welding Team works together with other departments to build, assemble and ship products for the commercial landscape construction industry. About the Role The Laser Welder will work directly with our new laser welding equipment, and under the direction of the Welding Team Lead to weld aluminum parts together to create finished goods. You will use metal processing equipment and tools and be involved in processing materials for custom projects from CAD drawings. You’ll work with other metal departments, including grinding, washing and powder coating. You’ll be based in our Port Orchard, WA manufacturing facility and have a hand in accomplishing our #1 goal – a successful project in very way.
