Description: JOB DESCRIPTION – WELDER JOB SUMMARY Perform inspections or verify that the work inspected, and records maintained, conform to the requirements of the applicable standards. Has responsibility for determining if welded assemblies conform to workmanship and acceptable criteria by performing the following duties. SAFETY Safety is the single most important part of any position at George Evans Corp. and employees will: • Adhere to all safety and quality rules and regulations • Wear appropriate safety personal protective equipment (PPE) as required • Maintain equipment in good condition with all installed safety guards in place • Report all injuries, no matter how minor to their manager • Encourage co-workers to work safely • Report unsafe acts, work practices, and conditions to management • Failure to follow all safety rules may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Qualified and performs according to specified welding procedures and techniques • Ability to interpret drawings and other documents • Working knowledge of fixtures and welding setup parameters (amps, volts, etc.) • Use of finish grinding applications using manual and power tools • Operate machinery used in the production process or assist machine operator • Operate forklift in a safe and knowledgeable manner • Verify that the welding equipment to be used for the work is appropriate for the use with the welding procedure and has the capability to meet the applicable requirements of the welding procedure • Verify that the base materials and consumable welding materials conform to the specifications and that the welding filler metals used are as specified for each base material or combination of base materials • Inspects and certifies work performed to specified standards and completes necessary documentation • Lift raw materials, final products, and items packed for shipment • Prepares product for shipment • Use of conventional and precision measuring devices • Maintain appropriate housekeeping in the work area and ensure equipment is clean and arranged in an orderly fashion • Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task • Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency • Performs additional duties as assigned Requirements: EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) • Prefer a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in an occupational function that has a direct relationship to welded assemblies fabricated to national or international standards • Successful completion of an internal welding test • Able to read and interpret drawings, and routings, use simple math to perform basic calculations, and use basic hand-held measuring devices • Good, punctual attendance with the ability to work any shift General Physical Demands for Basic labor in a Steel Fab Shop • Physical requirements – the person must be able to stand for the entire shift (up to 10 hours). • Use heavy grinders at waist level for long periods of time. • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 250 pounds while being assisted by hoists, slings, forklifts or other human or mechanical assistance. • Use stomach and lower back muscles to support the body for long periods without getting tired. • Adjust body movements or equipment controls to keep pace with speed changes of moving objects. • Be physically active for long periods without getting tired or out of breath. • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. • Use their hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. • Repetitively bend, stretch, twist, or reach out. • Bend or twist their body. • Be capable of reacting quickly to any emergency safety alerts.
