Including pre and post weld heating operations as specified in WPSs as applicable. • Assembly: assemble basic mechanical equipment, structural components, and piping systems. • Perform self-verification of welded parts and assemblies before inspection to ensure quality of work performed meets or exceeds acceptance criteria. • Interface with QA/QC personnel. • Report unsafe conditions and unsafe equipment. • Measure work pieces to determine accuracy and acceptability per given requirements. • Removes burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from work piece. • Ensure that all documentation (including weld records) is filled out correctly and kept current as work progresses. • Keep a clean and organized work area. Required Qualifications: • 3+ years’ experience with a list of previous welding qualifications; OR a combination of 1+ years’ experience and an Associates of Applied Sciences in Welding Technology or equivalent. • Ability to pass a Columbia Energy weld test. • Ability to operate tools, machinery, and vehicles safely. • Ability to read, write and comprehend both verbal communications and written directions. • Ability to read a tape measure. • Ability to perform arithmetic as required for layout and fabrication i.e., add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions and decimals, solve for missing angles or sides of a triangle, etc. • Ability to travel to field sites when necessary. • Must pass an employment record, criminal background check and a drug screen (drug and alcohol-free workplace). • Must have reliable transportation to work each day.
