Solar Safety Coordinator

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Coordinator to serve as the primary onsite safety lead for a utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) solar project. The Safety Coordinator is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing site-specific safety programs, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local safety regulations (including OSHA), and fostering a strong safety culture across all trades and subcontractors. This individual may oversee additional safety personnel and serve as the direct liaison between the site and corporate safety leadership. Key Responsibilities: ● Serve as the primary safety officer on site, responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of the site-specific Health and Safety Plan (HASP). ● Conduct daily safety meetings and job hazard analysis (JHA) reviews with site crews. ● Perform regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards, unsafe behaviors, and non-compliance with safety protocols. ● Investigate and document all safety incidents, near-misses, and injuries; lead root cause analysis and develop corrective actions. ● Coordinate emergency response plans and conduct regular safety drills. ● Maintain and manage all required safety documentation, reports, permits, training records, and inspection logs. ● Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforce safety rules across all personnel, subcontractors, and visitors. ● Train site personnel on OSHA standards, project-specific safety procedures, and safe work practices (including fall protection, trenching, confined space, lockout/tagout, and energized work protocols). ● Monitor environmental conditions such as heat, weather, and wildlife exposure to adjust safety planning accordingly. ● Collaborate with construction management and subcontractors to implement site logistics and traffic control plans that minimize safety risk. ● Act as the liaison with local regulatory agencies during site visits or audits. ● Mentor and oversee junior or assistant safety staff if applicable. Required Qualifications: ● Minimum 3 years of construction safety experience, with at least 2 years on utility-scale solar or industrial projects. ● OSHA 30-Hour Certification (required). ● First Aid/CPR/AED Certification (current). ● Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 construction standards. ● Strong ability to lead, communicate, and enforce safety expectations with crews and subcontractors. ● Ability to work outdoors in varying environmental conditions and physically access all areas of the jobsite (e.g., walking long distances, climbing ladders, entering trenches). ● Proficiency in writing incident reports, maintaining safety records, and using digital tools ● Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Job Description Position: Solar PV Operations and Maintenance Technician II Location: On-site, primarily in Middle Tennessee and Northern Alabama stretching from the Huntsville area north through Nashville, Murfreesboro, Clarksville, and Bowling Green, KY. May occasionally travel to West or East TN, North GA, or MS. Overview: This position is responsible for the performance of corrective and preventative maintenance tasks within a defined set of facilities. These tasks include the inspection, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and remedy of issues impacting the production of the solar PV facility. This includes repair and/or replacement of electrical and mechanical components and subcomponents such as contactors, breakers, motors, bearings, PV modules, PLCs, transformers, etc. This position may also act as a safety second and assist more senior technicians as needed. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a strong mechanical inclination and verifiable experience performing in the electrical trade, electrical or multicraft maintenance, or solar operations and maintenance. Experience performing maintenance tasks on DC, AC, and MV systems, communications equipment, and mechanical systems will translate well to this position. No direct solar PV experience is required. Main Responsibilities: • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks at each facility, including the full PV system, UPS, SCADA, substation, and MV/HV/OHE systems. • Perform corrective maintenance tasks, both scheduled and unscheduled, at each facility, including the full PV system, UPS, SCADA, substation, and MV/HV/OHE systems. • Respond to directives for emergency dispatches for critical systems as directed. • Log all work performed via the Silicon Ranch CMMS platform. • Perform electrical testing using IV Curve Tracers, Power Quality Meters, Insulation Resistance Testers, Multimeters, and other testing equipment as needed. • Assist management with field investigations to support predictive analytics, root cause analysis, and serial defect reports. • Provide site access to third party contractors and as directed. • Assist with other site tasks, including land management, module washing, and vegetation management as directed. • Attend internal and external training sessions as directed. • Must be able to communicate effectively, collaboratively and responsibly with team members and management. • Must be able to work alone as a self-starter and work within a team driving towards a common goal. • Must be able to stand for long periods of time. • Must be able to work outside in most weather conditions. • Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Qualifications: • Intermediate skills with computers and electronic equipment required • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat required • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA70E, and OSHA standards • Valid Driver's License Required • OSHA 30 (must be obtained within 4 weeks of employment) • CPR/BLS (must be obtained within 4 weeks of employment) • State electrical license or NABCEP certification desired • Ability to perform localized travel of up to 2 hours each way. Responsibilities • Performing High, Medium, and Low voltage testing of electrical power equipment • Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering personnel to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems and determine optimum equipment functioning. • Prepare and maintain reports detailing all tests, repairs, and maintenance performed. • Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and clean equipment and components in a solar field or substation. • Required weekend and or night work is possible depending on customer requirements at the site. • Commissions, troubleshoots, repairs, and analyzes utility inverters in the field, via email, telephone, and site visits. • Develop a detailed knowledge of utility inverter products and associated manufactured accessories. • Maintain an Inventory and tool count for spare parts for maintenance. • Regularly work with High Voltage DC Electricity, 3-phase power, Transformer Oil, Mechanical tools, and all relevant software and firmware for inverters. • Maintain a High level of customer satisfaction and communication both written and verbal • Perform detailed maintenance activities in strict accordance with manufacturer maintenance and installation manuals.
