Let our craftsmen create the metal products you need. Position Overview: Our Sheet Metal Foremen manage our field and shop projects in a hands-on way. You will manage a small crew of laborers at varying job sites. Join a team of dedicated and skilled workers to bring quality products and services to our community. Duties & Responsibilities: • Coordinating daily tasks according to priorities and plans, making changes when necessary due to weather, supply, delivery and personnel • Delegating individual responsibilities and projects to crew members and contractors • Training, managing and mentoring employees and contractors • Providing adequate resources and staffing to meet project schedules, laws, regulations, best practices and safety needs • Emphasizing safe use of tools, machinery and equipment while providing training on safety gear, helmets and procedures • Enforcing safety rules; evaluating the workplace for potential hazards, and working with management to mitigate safety concerns • Developing and managing project budgets and quality standards for all sites • Resolving conflicts or miscommunications quickly and amicably • Regularly reporting project status to supervisors, site engineers and other officials • Other duties as assigned by management Skills & Requirements: • Must know how to fit/form metal using industry tools such as plate rollers, shears, etc. • Have a thorough knowledge of the properties of steel, aluminum, and stainless steel when fabricating and welding • Must be able to manage project schedules amid competing priorities • Have knowledge of surface metal preparation for welding and painting • Customer-service skills to communicate with inspectors and administration to develop a positive working relationship. • Decision-making skills for selecting personnel and subcontractors for specific tasks and jobs to meet deadlines and budgets. • Initiative for generating their own business opportunities and being proactive in locating new clients. Many foremen market the companies that employ them while bidding on jobs. • Leadership skills for effectively delegating tasks to lower-level managers, subcontractors and construction workers. • Speaking skills for providing clear orders, explaining complex information to clients and construction workers and discussing technical details with other building specialists. • Technical skills for interpreting construction methods and technologies along with contracts and technical drawings. • Ability to plan work, evaluate the time requirements to complete a job, and schedule accordingly • Time-management skills to meet deadlines and ensure construction phases are completed on time so that the next phase can start. • Writing skills for writing budgets, proposals and plans along with documenting work progress for clients and others involved. • Requires the ability to use a phone and tablet to input data, such a timecard information, emails, etc. • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus for this role Job Location: 218 East Lathrop Avenue, Savannah, GA 31415 Working Environment: Work is typically performed while standing, in a non-climate-controlled machine shop or on job sites with varying weather and working conditions. The Sheet Metal Fabricator is a skilled person who specializes in cutting, shaping, welding and assembling metal sheets to create products. You have a keen eye for detail and take pride in producing high-quality work with tight deadlines. You are proficient in using tools like press brakes, laser cutters & welding equipment. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, reliable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment while following safety and quality guidelines. You can read blueprints, interpret designs, and troubleshoot issues that arise during fabrication. The successful candidate must be able to work a rotating 4 ON -4 OFF 6AM to 6PM schedule. What You'll Do: • Consults blueprints & work orders to safely produce sheet metal components. • Selects appropriate material for each job based on specifications. • Cuts, bends, and shapes sheet metal to required dimensions. • Measures, cuts, and welds pieces together according to specifications, blueprints, or directions. • Performs assigned work on assembly lines as required. • Uses appropriate machinery and software applications to complete assigned jobs. • Coordinates required shutdowns and startups of equipment with other departments and maintenance. • Maintains clean and orderly work space. • Performs other related duties as assigned.
