Tool and Die Maker You will play a critical role in our manufacturing process by operating computer-controlled machine tools to produce precision metal tools and dies. Key Responsibilities • Perform routine tool maintenance, modifications, design, and manufacture of equipment required for tooling on site. • Design and build simple tools and fixtures without drawings as needed to complete projects. Requirements • Must have knowledge about metals and be able to service, repair, or replace damaged sections on various types of sheet metal dies. • Must be familiar with machining properties, such as hardness and heat tolerance, of common metals and alloys. • Must be able to work from blueprints or instructions to manufacture tools or dies. • Must possess general knowledge of machines, such as lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, punch press, and other related machine shop machines. Physical Requirements • Ability to perform tasks requiring hand and eye coordination, with good hand dexterity (gripping and pinching repetitively) for more than 2/3's of the work shift. • Lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing 10 pounds continuously, 25 pounds repetitively, and 50 pounds occasionally. Lifting or carrying objects over 50 pounds requires a two-person lift or assist. • Bend, twist, squat, kneel, and/or stoop repetitively 6 to 8 hours per day. • Reach overhead repetitively for more than 2/3's of the work shift. • Stand continuously for 8 to 10 hours per day. • Climb up and down stairs up to 3 hours per day. • Use senses to detect quality defects and unsafe conditions. • Basic visual requirements for precision work. • Moderate physical exertion.
