SHEET METAL MECHANIC (AIRCRAFT). Job in Fallon LilyLifestyle Jobs

Secret Aerospace and Aviation Technician You will remove fixed sheet metal and composite structures from aircraft and disassemble structural and non-structural metal and composite components. You will work from technical drawings, directives, manuals, and other written or verbal instructions, and assist equivalent and lower-grade level employees. You will use hand or power tools to make replacement parts for aircraft structural and skin sections. You will assess damaged parts to determine the sequence of operations necessary to affect repairs or replacements. You will comply with safety regulations, practices, and procedures. You will be required to have regular and predictable attendance, which is an essential function of this position. You will accomplish other duties as assigned. Must be a US Citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Must participate in the direct deposit pay program. New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift. Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs. The screen-out element for this position is: I have the ability to perform common tasks including: 1) Performing metal repair, fabrication, planning, laying out, designing, and assembling/dissembling aircraft and aircraft components; 2) Applying knowledge of the characteristics and properties of any metals (e.g. stainless steel, magnesium, honeycomb) used in the trade; 3) Using hand and power tools, as well as precision measuring instruments; 4) Reading and interpreting blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics of items to be repaired; 5) Devising templates/patterns into shapes (e.g. rectangular, cylindrical, tapered, etc.); 6) Using geometry, trigonometry, and other shop mathematics to design parts. This job does not have an education qualification requirement. Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees. This position requires rotating shift work. This position requires evening and weekend work. This position requires exposure to high noise levels. Physical exertion requires heavy lifting and carrying objects up to 45 pounds. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
