Maintenance Plumber

Shift 10-hour shifts Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 POSITION PURPOSE: A licensed plumber installs, repairs, and maintains plumbing systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. Works under the guidelines of the Illinois State Plumbing Code in addition to the local building codes and regulations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Possess a solid understanding of water distribution, sanitary and disposal systems in healthcare, commercial and residential structures. • Install, repair, and maintain pipes, valves, fittings, drain systems, and fixtures (such as sinks, toilets, and water heaters) in healthcare, commercial and residential structures. • Performs routine maintenance and emergency repairs. • Designs piping layouts and installs piping systems in renovation and new construction projects. • Collaborates with general contractors, electricians, and other professionals during construction. • Perform routine inspections of plumbing and drain systems, identifying and diagnosing plumbing problems using appropriate tools and techniques. • Possess a working knowledge of all local and state plumbing building codes and regulations. • Ensure all work meets safety standards and follows best practices. • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose plumbing challenges accordingly. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to understand or plan layout of waste disposal and water supply systems. • Familiarity with the intricacies of working with PVC, CPVC, PEX, cast iron, and copper piping. • Attention to detail and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously. • Proficiency in basic mathematics and measurement conversion. • Possesses strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills. • An integral member of the Plant Operations and Maintenance construction team.
