Plumber Steamfitter Journeyman

Overview The Facilities & Infrastructure Operations Division is responsible for plant engineering, plant energy and utility operations, and facility operations for the South campus and leased facilities, North Campus and Infrastructure Operations, the Physical Science facility, and the 300 Area. In addition, the Division oversees campus infrastructure such as fabrication and craft services, duplicating and mail services, relocations, receiving, distributed services, and maintains operations of roads, grounds, and utilities for the campus. Bargaining Unit: • Weekly Pay: $2,089.09 • This is a bargaining unit position and will be under the Battelle/HAMTC Collective Bargaining Agreement. As a condition of employment, unless otherwise exempted, the staff member will be required to join the appropriate union affiliated with the Hanford Metal Trades Council (HAMTC) after 30 days of continuous service and pay union dues or pay agency fees to such union in lieu of joining. Responsibilities The selected candidate(s) may be required to perform any, all, or some of the following job duties, depending on business needs, which vary and are subject to change at any time: Fully qualified Journeyman. Perform expert installation, maintenance, fabrication, layout, and repair work on all piping systems, plumbing assemblies and equipment falling within the jurisdiction of the Plumber-Steamfitter Journeyman classification of PNNL. Will set up and use tools and equipment, either hand or power tools. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: • Fully qualified journeyman with 4 years of experience at the journeyman level. • A High School education or equivalent. • Ability to qualify as a full journeyman with the appropriate union affiliated with HAMTC. (This must be reflected in the resume submitted.) • Must be able to safely and effectively set up and utilize all tools, materials, and equipment common to the trade. • Must have a valid state-issued driver's license. Preferred Qualifications: • Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout requirements. • Measuring, cutting, threading, and bending pipe to required shapes using hand and power tools or machines. • Securing pipes to walls and fixtures using brackets, clamps, tools or welding equipment. • Installing and maintaining hydraulic and pneumatic components of machines and equipment, including pumps and valves. • Testing piping systems for leaks using air and water pressure gauges. • Complying with all safety protocols and regulations during installation and maintenance. • Assembling various pipe sections and components using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, or plastic solvents. • Updating maintenance and installation records upon completion of tasks. • Fire system piping installation and maintenance.
