Is expected to recognize occupational hazards associated with work and to exercise appropriate safety measures. Recognizes and evaluates difficult and/or complex problems that arise during the course of a project and takes appropriate remedial actions. Assists supervisors in making facility inspections to determine deficiencies, code compliance and repairs necessary to buildings and equipment, and is called upon to advise and recommend the procedures required to correct difficult emergency maintenance situations. Other work as assigned. Also, employees may be assigned On- Call and/or as an On-Call alternate, as required by management. Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments. Required Minimum Qualifications • Must possess a current Master or Journeyman plumber's license issued by the Michigan State Board of Plumbing or by a state approved agency. • Possess a valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license. Out of Country driver’s license holders will be required to obtain the appropriate valid State of Michigan driver’s license before the hire date. • Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical, established for this classification. • Successfully complete the six month probationary period. Special Requirements • Must maintain a valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license. • Must maintain a current Master or Journeyman Plumber license or certificate, issued by the Michigan Department of Labor or a state approved agency. • For positions assigned on-call duties in the Water Resources Commissioner’s department, must maintain a Department of Transportation Health permit (DOT medical card) as mandated by federal guidelines for commercial drivers.
