Maintenance Technician

Duties/Responsibilities: • Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair. • Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs. • Plans repair work using buildings blueprints or equipment manual as needed. • Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures. • Performs routine maintenance on building systems. • Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities. • Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance. • Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities: • Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers. • Knowledge of general carpentry and repair. • Ability to use hand tools and power tools. • Excellent organizational and time management skills. Education and Experience: • High school diploma or equivalent required. • Related experience preferred. • On-the-job training offered. Physical Requirements: • Prolonged periods standing and walking. • Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces. • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Coordinate all equipment repairs/changes/modifications with engineering supervision. • Perform installation, diagnostics and repairs on facility equipment and systems: Electrical service, wiring, switch gear; Plumbing system; HVAC system; Boiler system; Air Compressor system. • Working with facilities drawings and electrical/plumbing schematics, diagnose problem, initiate orders for and install new or repaired parts. • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery. • Install and repair electrical components, such as transformers, relays, switches, switch gear, wiring, printed circuit boards, etc. of machinery and equipment. • Assembles, installs, and maintains water, steam, and pneumatic plumbing systems, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment. • Maintain Boiler system chemical treatment. • Repair and maintain physical structure of establishment. • Install, program, or repair programmable controllers. • Guaranteed wage progression every 3 months, for the first two years! * • *Shift Premium of $1.50/hr for 2nd and 3rd shifts** EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Associate Degree in Technical Field and 2 years’ experience in facilities/plant maintenance or a minimum of 5 years maintenance experience in a facilities/plant environment. Certification in Boiler and HVAC systems preferred. Must have strong knowledge of Utility, Boiler, HVAC, and Air Compressor systems and codes. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The team member frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally required to climb or balance. The team member must occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
