Job duties include, but are not limited to: • Know state and local plumbing regulations. • Assemble pipe sections, tubing, and fittings using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvents, caulking or soldering, brazing, and welding equipment. • Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observe pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks. • Review blueprints and building codes and specifications to determine work details and procedures. • Perform complex calculations and planning for special or very large jobs, including daily scope of work. • Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes, and fixtures in structures using measuring instruments such as rules and levels. • Study building plans and inspect structures to assess material and equipment needs, establish the sequence of pipe installations, and plan installation around obstructions such as electrical wiring. • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to required angles, using hand and power tools or machines such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines, and pipe-bending machines. • Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances such as dishwashers and water heaters and fixtures such as sinks and toilets using hand and power tools. • Cut opening structures to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings using hand and power tools. • Hang steel supports from ceiling joists to hold pipes in place. • Install vent, storm, sanitary, gas, and water piping systems and extend piping to connect fixtures and plumbing to those systems. • Lead and train small crews of Apprentices and Helpers as required or assigned. • Coordinate with Field Foreman on needed materials and supplies. • Other duties as assigned. Job Duties: • Have a general understanding of hand tools (tape measure, pipe wrenches, hammers, screw drivers, etc.). • Be able and willing to handle power tools in a safe manner. • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a professional manner to all levels inside and outside the company • Must have the ability to work with, train, and lead Apprentices and Helper level staff members. • Operate in a safe manner and follow all safety requirements (wear proper PPE, keep worksite organized, safe, and free of hazards).
