Pipefitter – Commercial Rack Refrigeration Systems Job Summary: DEEM, LLC is currently seeking Pipefitters and Laborers to perform installation of copper piping for large-scale commercial rack refrigeration systems, primarily used in supermarkets, grocery stores, and warehouse environments. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in high-quality copper pipe brazing, capable of reading blueprints, and able to work efficiently in fast-paced environments. Key Responsibilities: • Install and assemble copper piping systems for rack refrigeration units in commercial environments. • Perform high-quality brazing to ensure reliable, leak-free joints and connections. • Connect piping to components such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, and control systems. • Read and interpret blueprints, piping schematics, and installation layouts. • Ensure all work complies with safety codes, regulations, and company standards. • Coordinate with refrigeration technicians and other team members on job sites. Qualifications: • 1 years of experience in pipefitting for commercial refrigeration systems. • Proficient in copper pipe brazing and commercial refrigeration piping layouts. • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and component connection. • Ability to read and work from technical drawings and blueprints. • Experience in carpentry or electrical work is a plus. • OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred. • EPA Certification (Type II or Universal) is a plus. Work Schedule & Travel Requirements: • Overnight work is required. Most projects are completed during nighttime hours to accommodate client operations. • Must be able and willing to travel extensively — approximately 90% of work will be performed out of town. • Company covers lodging and per diem during travel in accordance with company policy. Additional Requirements: Must pass a background check and drug screening. • Valid driver’s license with a clean, insurable driving record. Physical Requirements: · Work prolonged hours. · Work in restrictive or confined areas. · Work in temperatures ranging from –20 degrees F to 120 degrees F, both indoors and outdoors. · Work in full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the duration of the shift, to include but not limited to hardhats, safety glasses, earplugs, gloves, and any other type of PPE. · Work on and walk on a wide range of terrain both indoors and outdoors. · Work off of, climb, and set up stepladders, extension ladders, platforms, and scaffolding. · Work out of and operate scissor and aerial type lifts. · To lift and/or carry materials or equipment weighing 50 lbs. or more (must get help with anything over 50 lbs) for short durations, and moderate distances. · To push and/or pull materials or equipment weighing 120 lbs. or more. · To perform daily job tasks while bending, stooping, crouching, crawling, standing upright, laying prone, reaching out, overhead, and down for extended periods of time. · To drive with both hands and the use of both feet. · To use both hands separately and /or together. What You Will Do Perform all duties associated with the pipefitter function including a wide variety of complex and difficult work to devise, fabricate, modify, install, repair and maintain various piping systems and related equipment for facility and industrial use. Operate compressed air and industrial and toxic gas systems. Troubleshoot and diagnose complicated problems, plan actions and interface with engineering, environmental, and other trades to coordinate work. Schedule work with or notify customers and areas affected to facilitate the flow of work. • Work from complex schematics, drawings, specifications and verbal instructions to layout, install, modify and repair complex piping / plumbing and related equipment. Inspect, test and approve jobs upon completion. • Perform preventive maintenance procedures and respond to and / or support a wide variety of facility related hazardous and non-hazardous emergencies throughout the plant site. • Operate and maintain compressed air for plant operations; troubleshoot and repair systems as required. Operate and maintain associated distribution systems such as explosive and industrial gasses. • Inspect and maintain potable water and waste water distribution systems and associated equipment. Provide cross connection control on all piping / plumbing systems, maintaining historical records of backflow inspections. • Consult with supervision and / or engineering on the most unusual problems and recommend corrective actions / solutions. • Inspect, troubleshoot and repair systems such as high and low vacuum, plating equipment, RO water and related process equipment. Maintain, troubleshoot, install, overhaul and repair complex pumps and related systems. • Install, modify and repair hazardous chemical systems. Perform chemical analysis, maintenance and repair as needed on various systems. • Comply with all Company, Federal and State Environmental and Safety regulations and procedures. • Prepare reports and maintain accurate records to ensure compliance to departmental procedures and requirements. Implement operational and procedural changes as required • Advise, assist and coordinate with other trades / personnel as required. Provide coaching and direction to lower graded employees.
