Responsibilities: • Alignment to Clark Standards of Excellence: Self-Motivated, Results Oriented, Adaptable, Team Player, Accountable, Ethical, Innovative, Resilient, Builds Relationships • Selects type and size of pipe and related materials and equipment, such as supports, hangers, and valves, according to job specifications. • Assists foreman in planning the sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other workers. • Cuts pipe using a pipe cutter, pipe saw, power tools (band saw), and pipe cutting machine. • Threads pipe using threading machine. • Knowledge in safe operation of Victaulic roll grooving and cut groove operations. • Mounts pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceiling to hold pipe. • Assembles and installs a variety of metal or nonmetal pipes and pipe fittings, using threaded, wrapped, soldering, brazen, fused, or cemented joints, and hand tools. • Secures pipes to structure with bracket, clamps, and hangers, using hand and power tools. • Knowledge in safe and professional testing of piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges attached to pipes for indication of leaks. • Observes and complies with all safety and project rules and all company policies and procedures. • Has working knowledge of working around heavy machinery to include hydraulic and lattice cranes. • Ability to rig and signal loads as required. • Ability to set and align process equipment like pumps and blowers. • Conducts field layout of the piping system and calculates offsets, miters, and fittings as required. • Performs other duties as required. This role requires significant physical exertion, including the ability to navigate active construction areas with uneven terrain, temporary and permanent stairs, ladders, scaffolding, and personnel hoists. Constant standing, walking, and performing repetitive physical tasks are required daily. The employee must frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing over 50 pounds with assistance or team lifting techniques. This position requires frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and reaching (above and below shoulder level). The employee must possess sufficient physical dexterity and balance to work safely at various heights and in confined spaces. Visual acuity (including close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus) is essential for tasks such as reading instructions, operating equipment, and ensuring safety. Adequate hearing (with or without assistive devices) is required to understand instructions and warnings in a noisy environment. Pipefitter Core Areas of Responsibility. • Select the type and size of pipe and related materials according to job specifications. • Inspect work sites to determine the presence of obstructions and ensure holes will not cause structural weakness. • Plan the sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers. • Cut pipe using saws, torches, and/or a pipe machine. • Thread, fuse, and bend pipe appropriate equipment • Assemble and install a variety of metal and nonmetal pipe and pipe fittings, including those made of brass, FRP, copper, lead, steel, stainless steel, ductile iron, and plastic materials. • Use hand or power tools to secure pipes to structures with clamps, brackets, and hangers. • Test, flush, and chlorinate piping systems • May weld holding fixtures to structural steel members. • Assist in the installation of industrial process equipment such as pumps, screens, gates, valves, and other machinery. • Maintain knowledge of all tools required to perform the pipe discipline. Pipelayer Core Areas of Responsibility. • Assist in the installation of underground utilities • Assist in the installation of piping and equipment at industrial facilities including water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, and shipyards. • Prepare grades for the installation of piping and ductbanks • Cut, prepare, and assemble pipe systems of various materials including but not limited to PVC, HDPE, ductile iron, copper, steel, and concrete pipe. • Carry and clean various materials as directed. • May be required to shovel or rake materials. • Must be safety minded and adhere to all safety policies. • Additional responsibilities as directed by the foreman/leadman Skills You Possess. • At least 2-4 years of verifiable experience working with piping systems in industrial construction and/or installation experience • Ability to read, understand, and follow blueprints, diagrams, grades, and instructions from supervisors, lay out the job, and within precise limits or standards of accuracy. • Able to perform manual labor in all types of environments and conditions, including heavy lifting (in excess of 50 lbs.) and working at heights with comfort and ease for an 8 – 10-hour workday. • Interpersonal competencies include a drive for results, the need for closure, effective oral communication skills, organization, planning, trust, respect, being dependable, and cooperation. • Good housekeeping standards and ability to observe safety procedures and report any potentially unsafe conditions to management. • May be required to satisfactorily demonstrate craft certification through written and/ or performance test, developed and prepared by independent third party.
