Now Hiring: Pipefitters Location: Norfolk, Virginia Company: NSC Staffing NSC Staffing is seeking Pipefitters with 2-5 years of experience for an exciting project in Norfolk, Virginia. This position offers an excellent opportunity for experienced journeymen to work on marine piping systems and contribute to significant ship repair and modernization projects. Position Overview: As a Pipefitter Journeyman, you will be responsible for the layout, fabrication, installation, repair, and testing of various marine piping systems such as Auxiliary Salt Water, Fire Main, Potable Water, Hydraulic, Compressed Air, Fuel Oil, Lube Oil, and Engine Exhaust systems. You will work according to specifications, NAVSEA/Military standards, and other regulatory standards like ABS and Military Sealift Command. Key Responsibilities: • Remove, repair, target, fabricate, and install marine piping systems per regulatory standards. • Use equipment such as table saws, pipe threading machines, bending machines (power and hand-operated), drill presses, and brazing equipment. • Perform blanking and pressure testing of tanks (structural boundary testing). • Interpret and follow instructions, drawings, and work item specifications. • Provide direction and guidance to helpers and improvers as assigned by the supervisor. Qualifications & Experience: • 5-10 years of experience in pipefitting, with at least 6 years of experience in maritime pipefitting. • Strong knowledge of P-73 joint fit-up and Silver Brazing theory. • Ability to certify in: • MT Braze (B-1) • MT Braze (B-2) • Thorough understanding of marine pipe fabrication, repair processes, and targeting. • Capable interpret drawings, specifications, and Navy/MSC/ABS standard items and manuals. • Proficiency in basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and familiarity with U.S. standard and metric measurement systems. • Physically and medically capable of wearing all required PPE, including hard hats, respirators, safety harnesses, and other safety gear as per OSHA standards. Work Environment: You will work in shipyards, aboard vessels, or in industrial settings, performing pipefitting tasks on complex marine systems. Qualifications • High School/GED with Apprenticeship Diploma and additional vocational courses or technical school graduate; and/or military and/or civilian experience with marine piping systems in a repair department or shipyard. • Must have the ability to obtain government base access. • Knowledge and practical skills tests required. • Deep Submergence Systems (SOC MCD A, B, and C), SUBSAFE Qualification. • Must be able to obtain a Secret/Confidential security clearance. • Must be a U.S. citizen who is not a dual citizen of any other country.
