Description: A Pipefitter at Master Boat Builders will configure, install, fit, and maintain various piping systems, and ensure smooth operation of those systems. Duties/Responsibilities: • Plans, prepares, installs, and maintains piping and plumbing systems composed of various materials; systems may include pipes, pressure and vacuum gauges, pipeline filters, steam traps, and strainer valves. • Consults blueprints, work orders, schematics, or instructions; creates working procedure based on specifications. • Gathers equipment and materials for the job. • Welds, cuts, bends, threads, solders, and fits pipes. • Installs various types of insulation and pipe covering. • Inspects pipes, testing for pressure and leaks; reports and/or resolves problems. • Complies with safety regulations and codes. • Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements: Required Skills/Abilities: • Ability to read schematics and blueprints. • Ability to use a variety of tools, which may include blowtorches, saws, pipe benders, and welding torches. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Education and Experience: • Successful apprenticeship that included classroom and on-the-job instruction in pipefitting or related field is preferred. • At least 3 years of on the job experience pipe fitting preferably in a shipyard.
