Description: A Pipefitter at Master Boat Builders will configure, install, fit, and maintain various piping systems, and ensure smooth operation of those systems. Duties/Responsibilities: • Plans, prepares, installs, and maintains piping and plumbing systems composed of various materials; systems may include pipes, pressure and vacuum gauges, pipeline filters, steam traps, and strainer valves. • Consults blueprints, work orders, schematics, or instructions; creates working procedure based on specifications. • Gathers equipment and materials for the job. • Welds, cuts, bends, threads, solders, and fits pipes. • Installs various types of insulation and pipe covering. • Inspects pipes, testing for pressure and leaks; reports and/or resolves problems. • Complies with safety regulations and codes. • Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements: Required Skills/Abilities: • Ability to read schematics and blueprints. • Ability to use a variety of tools, which may include blowtorches, saws, pipe benders, and welding torches. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Education and Experience: • Successful apprenticeship that included classroom and on-the-job instruction in pipefitting or related field is preferred. • At least 3 years of on the job experience pipe fitting preferably in a shipyard. Physical Requirements: • Prolonged periods standing and stretching to install and repair pipes and pipe fittings. • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. • Must possess visual acuity required to inspect piping systems and read plans or blueprints.

Locate refrigeration leak, fabricate hangers, struts and supports, identify pipe size and fittings by sight, power wash air-cooled condensing units, and layout complex coolers. • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret plans, specifications, contract documents, control drawings, service bulletins, technical procedure manuals, equipment specifications, and governmental regulations. • Maintain and manage truck inventory in an accurate, neat and orderly manner as well as adhere to vehicle maintenance program guidelines (If applicable). • Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal guidance and direction. Qualifications Formal Education Requirement: Required Level: High School OR Ten years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred level: Technical Degree Minimum Years of Experience Necessary: 1 year of exp with HS/GED, Zero years of exp with Tech Degree Additional Information: • EPA 608 Certification preferred but not required. • Valid Driver's license and a safe driving record. • Physically able to climb ladders, work at high elevations and lift objects up to fifty pounds. • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, detail oriented and highly motivated. • Mechanical aptitude. • Ability to work nights, weekends and out of town as required. • Ability to successfully manage multiple, competing priorities/task in a fast-paced work environment. • Strong organizational, time management skills. • High level of professionalism and diplomacy. • Strong customer focus skills. • Strong project management skills and high attention to detail. • Demonstrated ability to making decisions, learn quickly, thinking rationally and exercising good judgment.
