Job Description Here at BAE Systems, Pipe Fitters are assigned to remove, target, fabricate, repair, install system per drawings and test marine piping systems onboard ships in various stages of repair and modernization. Pipe Shop mechanics perform a variety of skilled duties such as general pipe fitting, burning/brazing, use of various mechanical attached fittings (MAF), sketching and testing of various piping systems in shop or onboard the vessel. Pipe Shop employees must be able to interrupt and follow all basic PPE Requirements, Safety Policies and Procedures put out by BAE. • Install, test, and maintain piping systems, including fuel, water, and hydraulic systems • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications to determine piping system requirements • Remove, target and fabricate new piping spools/assembly sections from existing conditions • Cut, thread, and bend pipes to fit specific measurements and angles • Assemble and connect pipes, fittings, and valves using various techniques, such as welding, soldering, and brazing • Test piping systems for leaks and other defects • Repair and replace damaged or corroded pipes, fittings, and valves • Collaborate with other tradespeople, such as welders and electricians, to ensure proper installation and functioning of piping systems • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with piping systems • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and inspecting pipes and fittings Required Education, Experience, & Skills • Must be able to read, write, comprehend simple instructions and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form. • High School Diploma or 5+ years of experience in pipe fitting or a related trade • Knowledge of piping systems, materials, and installation techniques • Identification of piping by class, schedule, size and the system they are used on • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and diagrams • Physical stamina to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces • Have the basic Pipe Fitting tools required to complete daily task • Must be able to wear applicable PPE (Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, Gloves, Steel Toe/Metatarsal Boots, Hearing Protection) • Must be able to obtain and maintain Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) access card. Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills • 5 years or more experience/pipe fitting apprenticeship program • Pipe fitting and installation techniques • Welding, soldering, and brazing techniques • Blueprint reading and interpretation • Troubleshooting and problem-solving • Communication and teamwork skills • Physical stamina and dexterity Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $44720 - $78520 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience. Requirements for this role include: · Pipefitter Improver must able to interpret marine blueprints, drawings and schematics. · Must have basic knowledge of ship repair terminology and ship compartment. · Must have at least 2 years of shipyard pipefitting experience. · Must have basic knowledge of pipefitting and pipefitting theory. · Basic math such as add, subtract, multiply and divide. · Must be able to use and read a tape measure. What You Will Be Doing A First-Class Pipe Fitter with Stellar Energy will have experience and working knowledge of mechanical equipment, piping installation, and various terminologies. Blueprint reading, measurements, setting equipment/piping, and job specifications to build an integrally complete piping system. Installation of various valves, suction diffusers, guides, circuit setters, expansion tanks, pumps, chillers, automatic air vents, pressure regulators.
