About The Role We’re hiring an experienced pipefitter/welder to lead a truck-based field crew for the Jackson Team. This role runs point on daily work planning, onsite fit-up/welding, quality checks, and mentoring helpers—delivering safe, code-compliant installs on schedule. What You’ll Do • Lead the truck/crew: Plan the day’s work, assign tasks, verify materials/tools, and communicate with the Project Manager/Superintendent. • Layout & fit-up: Read prints/isometrics/ P&IDs; field-measure and fabricate spools; install hangers/supports. • Welding: Perform SMAW/GTAW/FCAW (carbon/stainless; structural/process) to spec; prep joints; maintain heat control and bead quality. • Quality & documentation: Follow WPS, complete weld maps/heat numbers, support inspections, close punch lists. • Safety: Enforce JHAs/LOTO, maintain housekeeping, ensure PPE compliance, and drive zero-incident culture. • Equipment & truck care: Maintain truck inventory, tools, and consumables; submit needs and keep equipment in serviceable condition. • Mentor talent: Coach apprentices/helpers; model best practices and workmanship standards. • Install and fit Victaulic grooved piping systems per spec (gaskets, couplings, fittings) with proper groove verification and QA sign-offs. • Perform Aquatherm fusion pipe fitting (butt fusion, socket fusion) following manufacturer procedures and project WPS; maintain heat logs and fusion records. What You’ll Bring • 5+ years pipefitting/welding experience; 2+ years in a lead/crew-lead role running a truck or small crew. • Strong print/isometric reading; able to lay out, cut, thread/groove, and fit from drawings. • Proficient in SMAW and GTAW (TIG) on carbon/stainless; FCAW a plus. Ability to pass shop/field weld tests (e.g., 2G/3G/6G as required). • Familiar with AWS D1.1/D1.3 and job-book practices (weld maps, continuity logs, NCR closeout). • Solid understanding of rigging, hoisting, and hot-work procedures. • Valid driver’s license and insurable MVR; comfortable driving/operating a company truck. • Ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb/stoop, and work at heights or in confined spaces as required. • Hands-on experience with Victaulic grooved systems and Aquatherm fusion methods (or strong aptitude to learn). Nice to have • Current CWI/CW familiarity or prior work with inspectors. • CDL or ability/interest in obtaining one; field fabrication experience (shop/field hybrid). • Current Aquatherm fusion training/certification.
