Pipefitter

Description RC&E is looking for Pipefitters to join our construction team! Pipefitters are responsible for installing industrial refrigeration system piping at various locations. The Pipefitter will assist in various projects, under the direction of the Field Supervisors. We are seeking individuals who are able to layout pipe from flow diagrams generated by our engineering department per IIAR pipe standards. Key Responsibilities • Understand and interpret flow diagrams and layout drawings. • Report and resolve discrepancies in drawings to the Engineering department and construction leader. • Ensure all material specifications for equipment, pipe, and other materials are being followed. • Travel as required on out-of-town jobs for up to 10 days (out of town not constant, but on occasion). • Attend company-sponsored trainings and functions. • Ensure RC&E, OSHA, and client safety protocols are followed at all times. • Attend safety and construction meetings. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise • Ability to properly fit up refrigeration, water, and glycol pipe. • Ability to visualize final pipe path and layout accordingly per IIAR pipe standards. • Working knowledge of computer software including Excel, Word, Outlook, & Microsoft Project. • Working knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus. Role Overview The Journeyman Pipefitter will be responsible for the precise layout, fabrication, and installation of mechanical piping systems on major commercial construction sites. Candidates should have experience working with commercial mechanical systems including chilled water, condenser water, steam, and medical gas piping. Core Responsibilities • Install and fabricate piping systems including carbon steel, copper, stainless steel, and other mechanical piping materials. • Interpret and work from isometric drawings, blueprints, and spool sheets. • Use various pipe assembly techniques: threading, grooving, cutting, welding prep, bolting, and clamping. • Install supports, valves, and system components per specifications and field layouts. • Coordinate with foremen and superintendents for layout, routing, and system installation. • Operate power tools and job-specific equipment such as threading machines, pipe benders, and lifts. • Assist in hydrotesting and system commissioning efforts. • Maintain job site safety and participate in safety meetings and documentation. • Mentor apprentices and coordinate daily tasks with other trades. • Complete daily logs, time sheets, and basic job-related documentation. Required Background • 4+ years of commercial pipefitting experience, preferably with a mechanical contractor. • Familiarity with chilled water, condenser water, hydronic, steam, and process systems. • Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, weld symbols, and piping isos. • OSHA 10-Hour Certification required. • Experience in hospitals, data centers, or high-rise buildings is a strong plus. • Medical gas certification preferred but not required. • Skilled in use of threading tools, grinders, groovers, welding prep, and rigging equipment. • Physically able to work at heights, on lifts, and lift up to 80 lbs. • Strong communication and teamwork skills. • Must pass a background check, drug screen, and MVR check.
