This role is responsible for installing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing piping systems that support hospital infrastructure, including steam, water, gas, and medical gas systems. The Pipefitter plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our healthcare facilities. Shift: Monday through Friday 8am -4:30pmWhat you will do: • Install and maintain piping systems for heating, cooling, steam, water, and medical gases. • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. • Cut, thread, and hammer pipes to specifications using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders. • Inspect and test installed systems for leaks and proper functionality. • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance staff to ensure timely project completion. • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes and safety regulations. • Respond to emergency maintenance requests. • Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used. Education and Experience: • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred. • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a pipefitter in a commercial or healthcare setting. • Knowledge of medical gas systems and hospital infrastructure is a plus. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents. • Strong understanding of safety protocols and building codes. • Physical ability to lift heavy materials and work in confined spaces. • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Preferred Certifications • Journeyman Pipefitter License (State of Florida) • Medical Gas Installer Certification (preferred) • OSHA 10 or 30 Certification Working Conditions: • Work is performed in an office environment within the hospital’s engineering department. • Frequent use of radio and telephone communication. • May require occasional walking or visits to various hospital areas. • Must be available for rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
