Job Description UL Solutions, will be installing a solar monitoring system (SMS) near Mt. Vernon, ILon behalf of one of our Client. The station is (roughly 10x10 footprint) consists of a few solar panels, tripod, and measurement equipment surrounded by a chain link fence. The stations will be monitoring the solar resource as well as other meteorological and weather-related parameters. The station requires weekly maintenance, on the same day each week at approximately the same time to ensure consistent and accurate data is being collected for a minimum of 1 year. Your duties will include the following: • Ensure all equipment is level; • Ensure all equipment is clean; • Ensure there is no debris obstructing the system (depending on site/region, grass cutting, snow removal, or clearing brush); and • Confirm the system is secure and hasn’t been tampered with. Each maintenance visit should take 15-30 minutes. UL requires a weekly excel logbook uploaded via internet along with photos and other documentation to support the visit which should take 30-45 minutes. The entire process should take between 2-4 hours each week depending on your travel time to and from site. Occasionally, UL may request your assistance in replacing or troubleshooting equipment. A Senior Engineer would contact you to walk you through the process. They will support you while onsite and review data after the equipment repair. Qualifications No solar experience is required. Training will be provided either on site or remotely via phone or video call. Must be able to take instruction remotely. Must use own transportation to and from remote SMS location (4-wheel drive preferred.) Willing walk, no more than ¼ mile in one direction. Must own gas or battery-operated weedwacker should grass cutting be required. Required to climb an 8-foot ladder (UL provided). Capable of maintaining equipment utilizing a level, a screwdriver or other hand tools. Must be willing to pay for shipping or other small costs from time to time to be reimbursed by UL. Must have basic computer skills, including ability to upload attachments with their own version of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) to SharePoint with reliable internet. A smart phone is required to take site photos as well as to communicate with UL staff while on site in an event of an emergency. Required to treat all applicable information as confidential. Salary: $90-$150 per visit depending on proximity to site.
