Overview: Position Overview: Responsible for serving as the primary onsite quality support to all team members and the crafts by managing the development and implementation of the Site-Specific Quality Plan and by researching/answering questions regarding quality. The Field Quality Manager (FQM) is a member of the project management team, is able to work with minimal supervision and takes the lead role in managing project quality and establishing the expected level of workmanship. This position requires the incumbent to develop thorough knowledge of the project and schedule as they apply to QA/QC. Location & Travel Details: You'll get the opportunity to travel across the US, helping our team build renewable projects. This is a traveling position, up to 100% of the time. You have the potential to be placed on a project site located in any state throughout the US. You'll spend 8-12 months on average per project. We offer designated daily per diem in addition to base pay to support and help you cover living expenses. This position is eligible for routine travel home (rotation) from the jobsite. Responsibilities: • Promote and comply with all Company safety policies and procedures • Manage the Site-Specific Quality Plan, which ensures that products and services meet predefined quality standards and Client expectations • Read and understand plans and specifications (visualize two-dimensional drawings in three dimensions) • Develop a complete understanding of contract plans and specifications for assigned work • Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies and cost-saving measures that arise or that may be encountered. Take corrective actions as needed • Inspect subordinates' work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and explain and take any corrective action needed • Listen to other employees' and supervisor's suggestions, complaints, problems, quality concerns and recommendations, evaluate each and then devise and implement a plan of action based on that evaluation • Observe the functioning of installed equipment or systems to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation or replacement • Produce quality work, meeting requirements of plans, specifications and industry standards • Have a working knowledge of MasTec Quality Control Manual and supporting procedures • Mentor and train QA/Qc inspectors as needed for how to complete Quality job duties in the field • Prepare the Monthly Project Quality Report, review and cosign with the Site Manager and submit to Divisional Quality Manager • Facilitate Site Specific Quality Plan implementation walkarounds and participate in weekly meetings to review status of Quality • Plan and perform field inspections and tests to coordinate with the construction schedule, ensuring supervision and craftsmen do the same • Perform weekly quality audits on each scope for the project • Ensure that tests are performed, received and interpreted timely so that impacts due to failure are minimized • Provide training to supervision and craftsmen regarding the project-specific quality process and requirements • Provide QA/QC input to task planning • When required, develop written instructions and procedures for project specific activities to supplement task planning, i.e., pipeline cleaning • Organize and maintain project and corporate QA/QC files • Review/approve all third-party test results for compliance with project requirements • Work with field staff to identify and issue Quality Alerts, notices of nonconformance and corrective actions • Train Field Engineers on quality job requirements • Other duties as assigned Qualifications: EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS • Associate or Bachelor's degree in quality, industrial technology, engineering, construction, welding, or related technical field • Two years of quality experience in construction or operations; experience with civil, electrical, or mechanical activities preferred • Trade certifications in testing, inspecting, etc. preferred KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED • Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Mastec' s Zero Injury principles • Self-starter with organizational, managerial and leadership skills • Working knowledge of construction industry codes (ACI, AWS, ASME, NEC, etc.). • Basic knowledge of all crafts and their associated special processes, inspection, and testing techniques • Familiarity with principles of quality metrics, lean kaizen, and continuous improvement • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook • Proficient knowledge and operational abilities of software packages needed to support the documentation, analysis and retention of quality records • Read, analyze and interpret blueprints, professional journals, technical procedures, contracts or governmental regulations • Write reports, technical specifications, work instructions, procedures, business correspondence and document quality-related issues and activities • Effectively present information and respond to questions from project managers, superintendents, and clients • Effectively communicate and develop positive working relationships with the owner, owner's representative and the Company's site supervision, to facilitate the quality objectives • Ability to coach, mentor and collaborate with staff at all levels to drive continuous improvement in quality development, Standard Operating Procedures, and process improvement • Ability to interact with all levels within the organization, client, subcontractors and suppliers to provide information necessary to obtain and complete a project • Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in standardized solutions • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule WORK ENVIRONMENT • When visiting jobsites, the work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. • This work environment may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises. • Must be comfortable with physical work that requires climbing stairs and ladders frequently. investigate or question others to ensure logs and two blocks are correct, etc. • Occasionally travel to jobsites for repairs and inspections, review field maintenance to ensure it is done properly and review maintenance reports • Review maintenance records and major repairs with operators and superintendents to ensure crews are self-sufficient and responsible for their own maintenance • Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards • Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repair • Communicate to obtain needed parts • Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order • Road test vehicles when required • Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor • Keep shop area neat and clean • Maintain and account for all shop tools and manuals;
