Position: R&R (Remove & Replace) Technician Straight Up Solar is Missouri’s largest and longest-running solar installation company. Position Responsibilities: • Adhere to Straight Up Solar and OSHA safety standards • Remove and Re-Install quality PV installation to system design specifications • Ensure that layout, roof attachment, racking and module assembly, combiner box installation, home run wiring, and voltage testing meets expected quality standards • Complete electrical wiring of solar array (AC and DC) • Problem solve system layouts when design specifications require adjustment Essential Functions: • Stage materials and tools and load vans • Perform quality roof penetrations • Assemble racking, mounting systems and modules per specification • Ground and wire the modules and combiner box • Assist with general ground support • Assist with general site preparation and clean up • Deliver a high level of customer service Requirements: • Must have a clean driving record, valid driver’s license, and access to transportation to our warehouse • Bend over and kneel on surfaces • Squat, crawl, twist in variety of ways • Drive power tools and use other small tools such as hammers and wrenches • Handle inclement weather • Sit in vehicle for long periods • Understand tool use and basic familiarity with construction practices • Must be organized and self-motivated • Must have excellent teamwork and communication skills including the ability to foster a positive team environment through collaborative decision-making Preferred Knowledge and Skills: • Understanding of grid-tied PV system design, electrical wire sizing, and conduit connections • Previous experience installing solar PV on the DC side of the system • Leadership Experience • NABCEP certification • OSHA-10 safety certification We provide a supportive team environment which allows everyone the opportunity to collaborate on ideas to improve the company. Service work may be solo or with another SUS service technician, varies based on job need. (Vehicle is not taken home.) • Delivers high level of customer service by addressing customers’ questions and concerns and effectively communicating system specifications, performance metrics, and variances. • Responsible for being a subject-matter expert on processes associated with the installation of PV Systems. Includes knowing equipment specifications for inverters, batteries, combiner panels and the other major components used in PV arrays, being able to read 1-line electrical drawings and building plans and maintain a strong understanding of PV design requirements. • Competent in testing, measuring and interpreting circuits up to 480 VAC/1000 VDC to troubleshoot system performance. • Complete Service Ticket paperwork after service visit via cloud-based database. • Communicate with other departments internally as necessary to ensure customer expectations are met. • Maintain accurate knowledge of processes and systems that support the service department. • Train and mentor other field technicians on new products, tools, and methods to improve efficiency and consistency of service. • Develop material and labor estimates for solar service repairs • Other duties as assigned Qualifications: • Minimum of 3 years of Commercial Solar O&M experience • Board Certified with NABCEP (Inspector, PVIP, or PVCMS) • Licensed electrician is a plus • IR Drone Pilot is a plus • Design/engineering experience a plus • Travel up to 50% of the time • Work an average of 45 hours per week, dependable and on time • Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software experience • Safety minded and follows OSHA guidelines • Proven track record in effective follow-through and problem resolution • Ability to multitask and prioritize a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment with minimal errors • Must be inquisitive and able to research, analyze problems, and make independent decisions • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) • Attention to detail and excellent follow through • Prompt and professional response to customer needs • Maintain clean driving record and has reliable transportation • Ability to climb ladders, bend and kneel repeatedly and work at heights • Physically able to lift 75 lbs • Ability to work in inclement weather Straight Up Solar is a values-based B-Corp company committed to a cleaner, safer, and more secure energy future – one solar panel at a time.
