Job Summary: As a Solar Energy Consultant, you will provide prospective customers with expertise and education on a variety of solar solutions, helping homeowners to become smart energy consumers. You will focus on generating business in an assigned territory, qualifying customer eligibility for rooftop solar and closing residential solar power sales and managing existing relationships. Primary Responsibilities: • Use a consultative selling approach; increase customer’s awareness of solar options as well as competitive advantage over other solar providers; provide potential customers with program details and answer questions or concerns. • Utilize satellite imaging platforms such as Project Sunroof, Google Earth, and Google Maps (Satellite) • Assure quality and accuracy of solar eligibility qualifications; meet with customers in person to discuss energy efficient product options for their home. • Keep detailed records of sales activity via CRM technology on a company provided iPad and laptop. • Effective daily management of appointments and planning targeted residential customers. • Develop collaborative working relationships with other sales representatives and teams across the solar organization. • Uses a customized consultative approach to gain an understanding of customer’s needs, increase awareness as it relates to the benefits of a residential solar energy system as well as IGS’ competitive advantage. • Build confidence, generate excitement, and maintain interest by using listening and negotiation skills when confronted with objections, skepticism, conflicts, etc. and counter with specific alternatives. • Develop new relationships with an emphasis on product education and serve as a Trusted Advisor to existing customers with the objective of a long term mutually rewarding relationship. • Continually build solar power / energy industry knowledge, including an understanding of relevant markets and competition.
