Full Job Description: Sheet Metal Mechanical Journeyperson Salary Grade: Hourly 18 / H-18 ($21.75 - $35.00/hr) Salary/Compensation: Tulsa Public Schools' existing salary schedules provide career increment adjustments based on education/experience and/or and years of credible service. Position Summary: The Sheet Metal Mechanical Journeyperson is expected to provide prompt quality service to every school every day. Provide a variety of tasks necessary to maintain, fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal equipment products and structures. The employee must also have the ability to work with precise limits and standards of accuracy; perform a variety of duties that may change often. Must be willing to work outside in all types of weather conditions and follow all safety requirements. Must report day-to-day operations to shop foreperson and/or lead-person, report and track material costs and maintain a daily time sheet. The primary focus for the Sheet Metal Mechanical Journeyperson is to repair and/or install sheet metal products. This would include repairs, maintaining and altering buildings, trailer skirting, guttering and down spouts, HVAC curb adaptors, various types of forms, and miscellaneous fabrications for the facilities as needed. This job may include working with outside contractors and vendors for new installation and repair of sheet metal and HVAC equipment. This will also include working with other maintenance shops for specialized project work throughout the school district. Minimum Qualifications: Education: • High School Diploma or equivalent • Completion from an accredited trade school is preferred Experience: • Three (3) years of experience working with commercial/industrial applications of sheet metal is preferred • Experience installing new HVAC air ducts with experience related to commercial grade fire dampers, fresh air intakes, and similar equipment Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc.: • Possess or ability to obtain a current state mechanical journeyperson license with sheet metal endorsement • Possess or ability to obtain an Oklahoma driver's license • Thorough understanding of city codes and regulations • Extensive knowledge regarding sheet metal fabrication • Additional mechanical endorsements preferred (such as gas piping, heating, and AC) • Must have working knowledge with blueprints, sketches, and product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabrication, assembling, and installing sheet metal products • Knowledge repair and maintenance of sheet metal products • Ability to use CMMS software • Proficient or willing to learn Microsoft Office Suite and Google Office Suite • Bilingual in Spanish preferred Physical Requirements: • Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted • Ability to occasionally lift more than 50 lbs. assisted • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolds About Our District: At Tulsa Public Schools, our mission is to inspire and prepare every student to love learning, achieve ambitious goals, and make positive contributions to our world. The Aircraft Structures/Sheet Metal Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing aircraft components and airframe structural supports. Essential Functions: • Read, interpret, plan & work from Structural Repair Manuals, engineering drawings, and Service Bulletins. • Complete skin repairs requiring doublers or triplers containing complex contours. • Complete complex repairs and replacements that require substantial disassembly, such as wing spar, keel beam, or other support structures. • Remove/install aircraft components as required. • Perform minor structural repairs on composite components. • Assist in conducting hidden damage inspection of aircraft structures. • Assist with complex structural repairs either on or off aircraft. • Assist with aircraft component repair. Requirements: • 2+ years of experience working aircraft structures. • Ability to interpret and work with mechanical engineering drawings. • Ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal form on individual and / or aircraft status. • A&P Certified is preferred, but not required.
