Sheet Metal Journeyman

Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Journeyman to join our team and support commercial HVAC/MEP construction projects. This role involves the layout, fabrication, assembly, and installation of ductwork systems and related sheet metal components according to specifications, drawings, and safety standards. Key Responsibilities • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications for duct systems. • Measure, cut, assemble, and install sheet metal ductwork and fittings for HVAC systems. • Operate hand tools, power tools, and sheet metal equipment such as brakes, shears, and presses. • Secure ductwork and components using proper fastening methods (screws, welds, sealants, hangers). • Coordinate with foremen, project managers, and other trades to ensure efficient installation. • Follow company and OSHA safety standards on jobsites. • Perform quality checks to ensure systems meet design and code requirements. • Assist in training apprentices/helpers as needed. Qualifications • 3+ years of sheet metal experience in commercial HVAC/MEP construction. • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications. • Proficient in the use of sheet metal tools and equipment. • Knowledge of SMACNA standards and commercial duct installation practices. • Strong understanding of construction safety procedures. • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work at heights or in confined spaces. • High school diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred). Preferred: • Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program. • OSHA 10/30 certification. • Experience leading small crews.
