Job Summary: The Master Plumber is a highly skilled professional responsible for overseeing and performing complex plumbing tasks, including the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems in residential, commercial, or industrial projects. The Master Plumber works closely with clients, contractors, and project managers to deliver high-quality plumbing solutions while meeting project deadlines and safety standards. Duties/ Responsibilities: • Install pipes, fixtures, water heaters, and other plumbing systems according to the project specifications and blueprints • Install and troubleshoot complex plumbing systems, such as gas lines, sewer systems, and water filtration systems • Oversee the installation of fixtures, faucets, pumps, and heating systems • Provide guidance and training to less experienced team members • Evaluate and improve the skills of apprentices and journeymen on the job • Identify and diagnose plumbing issues, such as leaks, pipe blockages, and faulty systems, using advanced tools and techniques • Provide recommendations for repairs or replacements based on the diagnosis • Perform repairs or replacements for complex plumbing problems that require advanced expertise, such as major pipe leaks, broken sewer lines, or high-pressure systems • Ensure all plumbing work meets local building codes, health regulations, and safety standards • Obtain and manage permits required for plumbing installations or modifications • Maintain accurate records of work completed, including repairs, inspections, and maintenance • Estimate project costs, materials, and labor requirements • Prepare and submit bids for new projects, ensuring cost-effective solutions • Coordinate with other trades (e.g., electricians, contractors) to ensure plumbing systems are integrated smoothly into the overall construction project • Review blueprints, drawings, and project specifications with the project manager and construction teams • Enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices to protect employees and clients • Perform final inspections and tests on plumbing systems to verify their functionality before project completion • Maintain detailed logs of materials, work hours, project progress, and any issues encountered • Order materials and manage the procurement process for plumbing components • Provide emergency plumbing services when needed, such as handling major leaks or system failures during off-hours • Mentor apprentices as needed, providing guidance on best practices and safety procedures • Maintain professional license in good standing • Other duties as assigned Education/Certifications/Licenses • Education • High School Diploma or GED required • Completion of a plumbing trade school program or apprenticeship, which includes hands-on training and theoretical knowledge about plumbing systems, safety, and codes is a plus • Certifications • OSHA 10/OSHA 30 or ability to obtain • Licenses • Master Plumber License or in window to take exam • Driver’s License • Contracting License is a plus Experience • 4–5 years of supervised on-the-job training • 1–2 years in a leadership role doing the following: • Overseeing junior plumbers, apprentices, or a small team • Managing projects, ensuring compliance with codes, and coordinating with contractors, clients, and inspectors • Experience with budgeting, scheduling, and ensuring job site safety • Working with specific systems or industries such as: • Installing and maintaining systems in large-scale buildings, factories, or medical facilities • Expertise in water conservation and energy-efficient systems • Familiarity with local and national plumbing codes Required Skills/Abilities • Mastery of plumbing systems, tools, and materials for residential, commercial, and industrial applications • Understanding of blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings • Expertise in installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing fixtures, piping systems, and appliances • Skilled in troubleshooting and diagnosing issues in water, gas, and waste systems • Backflow prevention, medical gas systems, or eco-friendly plumbing installations • Planning and overseeing plumbing projects from start to finish, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation • Training, mentoring, and supervising apprentices, journeymen, and support staff • Making quick, informed decisions to resolve on-site issues or address unexpected complications • Physically fit to work in challenging environments (e.g., tight spaces, high places, or extreme temperatures) • Ability to work long hours or handle physically demanding tasks • Clear and professional communication with clients, team members, and other stakeholders • Keeping accurate records, such as work logs, permits, and compliance reports • Calculating materials, labor costs, and time requirements for projects • Familiarity with bidding, contracts, and client negotiations • Adherence to OSHA regulations and job site safety protocols • Identifying potential hazards and taking preventive measures to avoid accidents • Familiarity with plumbing software or modern tools for system design and diagnostics • Strong attention to detail • Dependability and accountability • Time management and organizational skills Physical, Mental Demands/Working Environment • Physical Demands • Light to Medium Work. Journeyman Plumber We are seeking a skilled and reliable Journeyman Plumber to join our team. The Journeyman Plumber will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
