Journeyman Plumber

Job Summary We are looking for talented and hard-working individuals to join our construction and service team for the following position as a Journeyman Plumber & Service Technician. We are a local contracting firm based in Elko, NV. We perform projects for a variety of private and government clients (with prevailing wage projects as awarded) in residential, industrial, and commercial settings. We offer competitive pay to the area, 401K with profit sharing, vacation pay, and health insurance. Journeyman Plumber & Service Technician is required to have a minimum of five years journeyman level experience in commercial, industrial, and residential work. This position requires knowledge of Uniform Plumbing Code and other related construction codes. Applicant must be able to read and scale blueprints, layout piping systems in the field, install waste, water, gas, hydronic, and other piping systems, install proper piping and equipment supports, and be able to troubleshoot equipment and repair as needed. Applicant must also be able to also install a variety of equipment including water heaters, pumps, tanks, backflows, meters and meter pits, etc. in a variety of settings. Boilers and chillers experience is a plus. Journeyman HVAC

About the position The Journeyman HVAC position at Elko County School District involves skilled work in assembling, installing, and repairing plumbing systems under general supervision. The role requires adherence to plumbing codes and specifications, ensuring the functionality and safety of gas, water, and heating systems within the school district. Responsibilities • Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures such as water heaters, showers, and dishwashers. , • Repairs and maintains plumbing by replacing washers, mending burst pipes, and opening clogged drains. , • Repairs and/or replaces tubing, gas heating fixtures, furnaces, regulators, controls, and pumps. , • Studies building plans and drawings to determine materials requirements and sequence of installations. , • Inspects structures to ascertain obstructions to be avoided during installation. , • Locates and marks positions of pipes and connection passage holes in walls and floors. , • Cuts and threads pipe using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and/or pipe-threading machine. , • Solders, brazes, and glues pipe and fittings. , • Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipes and fittings. , • Tests assembled vessels and piping using specified procedures. , • Replaces and/or repairs insulating material on piping. , • Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of various materials using hand and power tools. , • Communicates and assists with other agencies regarding inspection and compliance issues. , • Handles and disposes of hazardous materials responsibly. , • Conforms to safety standards as prescribed. , • Performs other related tasks as assigned. Requirements • High school graduation or equivalent (GED, college, technical, or trade school transcript). , • Completion of apprenticeship or journeyman certification as a plumber, or a minimum of documented experience. , • Willingness to cross-train and work in other building trades. , • Experience working on boilers or willingness to be trained. , • Valid driver's license to operate a motor vehicle in Nevada. Nice-to-haves • Certification as a Certified Back Flow Prevention Assembly Tester accepted by the State of Nevada. , • State of Nevada Bureau of Safe Drinking Water-Water Distribution/Treatment Operators Certificate or ability to obtain within one year of employment. , • Nevada State Fire Marshall C of R Types 'G', 'GU', and Backflow Prevention or ability to obtain within six months of employment.
