Rough-In Plumbing

Identifies plumbing and safety concerns applicable to the installation and takes necessary corrective action. Performs necessary clerical duties related to the project. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Ability to read blueprints and schematics to mark and layout pipes’ path through wall cavities • Utilize tools such as tubbing cutter, wire brushes, emery cloth, flux, a handheld torch and solder, chop saws and hack saws • Running vent stacks to the roof and connecting drain lines and water supply lines to main water supply valves • Install and solder copper pipes • Seal open pipes with caps • Uses correct fittings • Understands correct plumbing codes • Ability to show range hood ducts and how to install an insulate them • Ability to run vent pipes into attics • May be cross-trained into other departments to ensure job knowledge progression and a balanced work force • Performs various other job duties as assigned and needed Competencies • Teamwork Oriented • Initiative • Technical Capacity. • Attention to Detail • Project Scheduling • Commitment to the Job Supervisory Responsibility This job has no supervisory responsibilities Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Evening work may be required as job duties demand. Travel Travel is primarily not expected in this role. Experience • Previous construction, carpentry or plumbing experience preferred • Ability to read and understand schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, blueprints, floor plans and work orders for projects • Ability to use both manual and power tools such as screw guns and belt sander in a safe and correct manner • Proficient in soldering skills with use of copper pipes • Knowledge of state plumbing codes • Ability to perform physical work overhead for extended periods of time • Ability to use mathematics and measuring devices to calculate length, width, height, depth, etc. • Ability to follow written and spoken instruction • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds comfortably and consistently Education High school diploma or Equivalent required.
