Experienced Plumber

TITLE: Plumbing Technician DEPARTMENT: Plumbing REPORTS TO: Director of Service Position Summary: The basic description of the Plumbing Technician is to provide general repair and replacement of residential, commercial and industrial plumbing. This position performs service calls to customers, sells plumbing fixtures, and any other service /product deemed necessary to complete the work. Utilizes customer service training to educate and assist customers in choosing service, products and payment options. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Replace or repair breaks in above ground underground piping. • Repair plumbing fixtures, broken pipes and replacement of parts if needed. • Be capable of taking pictures of any plumbing repairs or replacements needed. • Provide estimated cost of service to customer after getting approval from the Service Director. • Always maintains a safe work area according to company policy. • Maintain a neat and professional appearance for all customers. • In addition to performing plumbing duties, must be willing to learn other aspects of all companies; such as learning duties in our lining manufacturing and drain cleaning dept. • Complete customer invoices and reports when needed. • Be available to take on-call rotation for after regular business hours. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. • Knowledge of local plumbing codes and ability to apply them in a practical manner on each job. • Must be able to read and write English well enough to read and prepare customer invoices and job proposals. • Must be capable of applying sound business and safety judgments to all job tasks. • This individual must be willing to pursue, develop and participate in job and safety training. • The technician must meet or exceed shop minimums in sales performance consistently. Education and Experience • A high school diploma or equivalent. • A minimum of two years’ plumbing experience, including hands on training and or work experience is required. • 10-Hour OSHA is plus (training will be available) Certificates, Licenses and Registrations: • Appropriate current state or local plumber license required for plumbing service technician Qualifications: • Valid driver’s license. Must be able to pass pre-employment MVR, criminal background check, and have acceptable driving record. • Must be able to complete a pre-employment physical and drug test. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus. Must hear and speak well enough to conduct business over the telephone or face to face for long periods of time. • Must be able to lift 75 pounds Work Environment: • This position will require working indoors and outdoors in various climate conditions ranging from very cold with rain to very hot and humid. This includes attics, crawl spaces, and confined locations. • The employee may be called upon to be in customer or service production sites on an as need to basis. • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. • This position deals with aggressive personalities in a highly competitive industry and may be stressful at times. Workweek: Typical workweek is eight (8) to ten (10) hour workdays five (5) days per week. Also including weekend work, as well as early and/or late weekday meetings with customers, vendors and staff personnel as needed. During peak times and seasonal extreme weather related events, position may require long hours. The technician must be willing to work on-call for emergency service jobs. Job Type: Full-time Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 starting per hour.
