THE OPPORTUNITY We are currently hiring for the role of Pipefitter / Gasfitter As a Pipefitter/Gasfitter you would responsible for the assembly and installation of all utility piping, valves, fittings, and equipment on the compressor package in accordance with industry and Bidell standards while ensuring all safety procedures, standards and best practices are maintained: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following): • Responsible for complying with all Bidell and customer specifications. • Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifically P&IS’s, BOM’s and mechanical drawings. • Using mechanical drawings as a guide, layout all utility piping runs without interfering with other equipment. • Select type and size of piping, fittings, and related material. • Fabricate and install supports, braces and hangers for piping and equipment as required. • Measure, cut, thread, and install various sizes of piping up to and including 2 inch pipe.. • Complete required testing of all equipment and piping. • Document installation of Bidell quality system documentation and perform final inspection. • Follow all applicable safety and sanitation procedures. • Adhere to all Company policies and procedures, including the safe operation of equipment and help to maintain a safe, clean work environment. • Participates in toolbox meetings. • Adheres to and promotes compliance with all Company PPE requirements. • Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed. • All other duties as assigned. COMPETENCIES (required skills and abilities): • Knowledge of all quality requirements in accordance with Bidell standards. • Ability to use hand tools and applicable shop machines correctly and safely. • Ability to read and interpret P&ID symbols. • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, able to take/read measurements to plan layout and apply to job. • Proficient in cutting and threading steel pipes. • Prefer candidates to have 2-3 years of pipefitter experience or 2 years in an apprentice program. • Self-motivated to perform high quality work and maintain a professional attitude. • Must use provided PPE to perform job in accordance with safety standards. • One year of industrial experience preferred. • High school diploma or equivalent. • Must be at least 18 years of age. • Must be able to work as a team member and help your coworkers as needed. • Must be willing to work overtime and weekends when required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds. Stand, kneel, bend, stoop, move, and walk long distances and in small areas with many moving pieces/parts. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job in a manufacturing environment. The employee is exposed to hot, cold, and outside weather conditions. Employees are working with moving mechanical parts, fumes and caustic chemicals are present. The noise level in the environment includes exposure to loud noise levels.
