PLUMBER PIPEFITTER

About the Role: The Service Plumber at MG Energy, Inc. plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems that are essential to the company’s energy operations. This position requires a thorough understanding of plumbing and pipefitting techniques to support the infrastructure that transports water, gas, and other fluids. The successful candidate will be responsible for interpreting blueprints and technical drawings to execute precise installations and modifications. They will collaborate closely with engineers and other tradespeople to troubleshoot and resolve complex piping issues, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Minimum Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent. • Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial service plumbing and pipefitting. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience working in the energy sector or industrial facilities. • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and schematics. • OSHA 30-hour Responsibilities: • Service, Install, assemble, and maintain piping systems, including pipes, valves, fittings, and fixtures, according to specifications and safety codes. • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout and installation procedures. • Inspect and test piping systems for leaks, defects, and compliance with safety regulations, performing repairs as necessary. • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other trades to coordinate work and ensure project timelines are met. • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and any modifications made to piping systems. • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company policies to maintain a safe working environment. • Use specialized tools and equipment to cut, thread, bend, and join pipes in various materials such as steel, copper, and plastic. Skills: The required skills enable the Service Plumber Pipefitter to accurately interpret technical drawings and apply their knowledge to install and maintain complex piping systems safely and efficiently. Proficiency with hand and power tools is essential for cutting, threading, and assembling pipes to precise specifications. Strong problem-solving skills are used daily to diagnose and repair leaks or system malfunctions, ensuring minimal downtime. Communication and teamwork skills facilitate effective collaboration with engineers and other trades to complete projects on schedule.

Relighter/Pipefitter

Job Summary: The Gas Utility Construction Relighter is responsible for safely restoring gas service to residential and commercial customers following system upgrades, maintenance, or emergency repairs. This includes relighting appliances, performing pressure tests, performing leak checks, ensuring customer equipment is functioning properly, and documenting all activities according to company and customer standards. Key Responsibilities: • Communicate with customers to safely enter customer premises to relight and test gas appliances after system construction or maintenance. • Perform pressure testing using approved instruments and techniques before and after relighting. • Perform leak detection using approved instruments and techniques before and after relighting. • Inspect customer piping and appliances for safety and code compliance. • Communicate with customers regarding the relighting process and safety checks. • Document relights, leak checks, and any issues encountered using company forms or mobile applications. • Support construction crews by coordinating relight activities to minimize customer downtime. • Adhere to all safety procedures, company policies, and applicable regulations • Report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or customer hazards to the supervisor immediately. • Maintain tools, personal protective equipment (PPE), and company vehicles in a clean and operable condition. Qualifications: • Previous experience in gas utility field operations, pipefitting, or gas appliance service (preferred). • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with gas appliances and systems. • Strong customer service and communication skills. • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. • Ability to pass operator qualification (OQ) testing and maintain certifications as required. • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb stairs, kneel, and work in various weather conditions. • Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check. Work Environment: • Primarily field-based with travel to customer sites. • Work may include evenings, weekends, or emergency call-outs depending on system needs.
