We currently have openings for Journeyman Pipefitters to work in our Mechanical division. We are looking for individuals who are willing to work in and around the Columbus Ohio area. Individuals should be able to read and understand blueprints, communicate effectively with all other people on the project, including our subcontractors, and represent TP Mechanical Contractors in a professional manner. Focus on safety and safety practices first and foremost at all task inceptions. Responsibilities and Duties: • Coordinate, layout, fit up, install and/or repair commercial piping systems. • Assemble and install HVAC equipment as necessary. • Perform field fabrication of piping systems and set up the specific task or project schedule. Make adjustments to work sequences to meet construction schedules. • Sweat, braze, and weld copper systems. • Install hangers or supports for piping systems. • Manage materials to ensure timely completion of the work scheduled. Ensure optimal material consumption. • Read blueprints and interpret specifications. • Correct punch-list items and make distribution as required. • Keep equipment in good working order to ensure proper and timely maintenance is performed on equipment. • Plan work to make the most efficient use of assigned manpower and other resources. • Inspect work in progress and completed work to ensure conformance to contract and specification. • Ensure the needs of general contractors, owners, and other customers as well as entrusted employees are met. • Serve as a coach by monitoring and mentoring Apprentices and laborers with production and quality workmanship. • Strengthen skills to encourage improvement in other pipefitters. Emphasize commitment to continually improve company procedures and processes in the best interests of the company. • Follows all OSHA and TP Mechanical Contractors standards for safety. Keeps work area clear of unnecessary clutter and performs routine clean-up as needed. • All other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Experience: • Experience/Qualifications Required: o 2+ years light commercial experience pipefitting/welding in field plumbing operations. o Prior shop experience a plus. o Stable work history. Job Skills: • Ability to read blueprints. • Knowledge of general plumbing and piping installation. • Ability to fabricate offsets. • Working knowledge of all hand and power tools. • Ability to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy and productivity. • Able to do basic take-offs. • Knowledge of hydronic and HVAC. Education: • High School or GED Equivalent. • Journeyman License • Trade School a plus. Physical Requirements: • Eyesight correctable to 20/50. • Able to work long hours on feet. • Able to lift and climb ladders and scaffolds. • Able to perform shift work. • Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 60lbs. • Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions. • Must not be afraid of heights. Special Requirements: • Valid Driver's License. • Must provide their own basic hand tools. • Able to operate heavy machinery. • OSHA 10 certified. Job Skills: • Proficiency in pipe layout, measuring, and fitting techniques. • Strong understanding of fabrication and construction safety practices. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. • Effective communication and organizational skills.
