Works under general supervision, performs work in the installation, modification, remodel and repair of mechanical plumbing equipment and fixtures for water, gas, oil, steam, sewage, fire sprinkler/prevention, and refrigeration-related plumbing systems. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. Successful completion of Mechanical Aptitude test required. 2. Valid driver’s license. 3. West Virginia Plumber Certification. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. High School Diploma/GED. CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Responsible for preventative and corrective maintenance of all hospital plumbing systems. Maintains troubleshoots, and test plumbing systems; assembles, installs, and repair pumps, pipes fittings, and fixtures; pump alignment cut, thread and weld pipes; assembles and installs vales, pipe fittings and pipes. 2. Supervises general maintenance workers by allocating and coordinating work flow, training, and advising, in more complex plumbing repair work throughout the hospital. 3. Provides skilled preventive and corrective repair work throughout the hospital. 4. Has access to, and is responsible for, performing assigned duties in locked medication rooms. This position is aware that they are not responsible for medications and they should report any unsecured medications to a licensed professional. 5. Performs other maintenance duties as directed.
